It seems to work:

One thing I noticed - the version on the 255 talks down to you as if you are some sort of half-wit with cliched 'inspirational' messages.

The implementation here doesn't which is nice!

Honestly, I have no idea on what battery drain you are Talking abot, my F7x has battery solid and Stable as rock. So what is issue for some, it is not issue for others. IF Garmin has time for new feature, it means there are not many watches impacted with serious issues.
