Exchanging my Fenix 7 SS for a Forerunner 955 today

The weight of the Fenix 7 is too much to bear and something I’ve only realized after wearing it for a few days. I had the option to change my watch but am I making the right choice? Are there additional features that makes the Fenix 7 better? (Besides the externals)

  • You will be missing some golf functions, ski-maps and activity-specific energysaving options. If you dont care about those things and can live with the externals, you will have the better watch!

  • The unbearable weight of the Fenix. We talk about watches that are all in the 50 to 70 grams ballpark. Using a lighter strap already makes it, well, lighter. Your Fenix is 63 grams, the Forerunner (non-solar) 52 grams. Is 11 grams (which is really nothing if you put a 11 grams object in your hand) that more heavy? Unbearable heavy?

  • And you get the surprisingly cool morning report!

  • I found my previous Fenix 6 Pro and now my Fenix 7 Solar to be uncomfortable with the included silicon band. When I switched to a lightweight nylon strap, I found it much more comfortable. Lightweight, breathable, and micro-adjustable for a precise fit.

I'm using a strap from The Watch Steward. The G-series is what fits a Fenix. Very happy with it!

  • You'll lost double tap on map to zoom, long tap on watchface items to open widgets, scrolling widget charts...

  • Do you find the Fenix heavy during activities or outside of activities? During activities, sweaty wrist can cause the watch to feel cumbersome and "loose".

I have the Coros Pace which is really light during normal usage but it feels cumbersome too.

I have had my F7X SS for a little over a month and it's surprisingly easy to get used to the weight and bulk.  Now it doesn't feel much heavier than Coros Pace during activities and general usage outside of activities. In fact, when I wear the Coros on my right wrist (to compare its accuracy with that of my F7X), it feels heavier than the F7X.

Perhaps my wearing it 24/7 makes it easier for my body to adapt to it.
