Why does the Fenix 7 have Public Beta Software but Tactix 7 doesn't?

I think it's the flying related features that most likely require additional testing and certification. If a plane dropped out of the sky, and the pilot had Tactix 7 with the latest beta on it... I know, I know... But no company wants this type of liability.

For the same reason, no beta for Garmin diving computers for example. And unlike Tactix, historically they didn't get new features a few weeks later. People have been waiting for months.

... And judging by the latest beta, a release version is now imminent. Tactix got 8.37, current production version, about a week after the roll out started for the Fenix 7 series. So, if stars alignment holds, all new bits are coming to your T7 in a few weeks. The wait is basically almost over.

This post doesnt really give an answer, it just says that the tactix will have no beta cause of additional features.

But as nickk said, pretty sure its because of the avionic features.

But why dont make a tactix7 beta firmware without avionic features? Personally, I don't need these functions, and I don't remember anyone here asking for them on a tactix watch...

Why does the Tactix 7 Not have Public Beta Software?

I think the real reason behind it is they want to protect those firmwares, imagine you could flash a Tactix 7 firmware into a regular Fenix 7X and get the extra features for free, after all they are the same platform.

You will have “all of the features” once beta becomes a public release. “With great power, comes great responsibility”-therefore Garmin is limiting the beta to non Tactix watches only for the flight features. 

As I do appreciate and understand that it might be because of flight/aviation features. Liability can be avoided by simple T&C before you download and install it on the device.

Yeah it's a pretty lame excuse. That said, I don't mind the lack of beta. I never installed it on my Delta and wouldn't on the 7 either. It's just too important to me to have to worry about issues. As long as the production updates come the very second they do for the Fenix, I'm good 

I agree, There should be ability to add Beta software program if the Tactix 7 doesn't have "ALL" latest software features available. For example, on the Enduro 2  and some of the FR  they ahve ability to add SatIQ/AutoSelect to satellite settings.
