F7SS died after 17 days on my 1st sea swimming. Any similar case?

I had the same problem with 2 garmin instinct solar... Hope my new fenix 7 solar Will not do the same... 

This happened on my 7XSS.  My power button was intermittently shorting and looping like yours.  I opened the watch up to see what was going on and it turns out that the top case gasket was missing!  No wonder there was water in the watch, lol.

I RMAed it to Garmin, and they replaced it quickly.

Any piece of tech failing so soon is disappointing and frustrating, especially a watch which essentially becomes a part of you.

Try soaking in a fresh water glass for 30 mins, maybe a bit of sand or something got stuck in the power button, or blast it with a hose to try and clear it out.

Failing that its a clear swap for a new one with the store or Garmin.

Not sure if you meant you pressed the power button while the watch is submerged or out of water. Garmin warns against pressing any of the buttons while watch is submerged. There's mixed feedback from users who had their Garmin die or develop issues after doing so vs those who regularly did so and suffered no consequences.

I had issues after sea activities on Fenix 3. Watch was locked with "back" button not working anymore.

Because of this, one year ago I bought Fenix 7 and, after 2 weeks of open water activities, again issues with "back" button, "light" and "menu" log press buttons too.

Sent it back to Garmin and having back e refurbished one.

After one week of surf, same issue again.

It seems to be solved after a night with the watch in clean water.

I wear the watch all day long, including shower.

I think it's unacceptable this kind of issue for a watch that lists "open water" activities.

Is there a fine print anywhere? They at least probably recommend rinsing it with clean water afterwards.

quick rinsing always done, if possible. Anyhow I don't think it's an acceptable reccomendation for a premium watch. it's like to have a timer for rinsing it as soon as possible

Do not press any buttons under water. This is stated in the operating instructions.

Fenix is not designed for swimming. 10 atm (100 m) usually means in watchmaker's language that you can walk alongside the beach, to show the water to the watch from a distance, but that's it.

Seriously:

5 atm - rain or shower is ok, swimming is not
10 atm - light swimming, no fancy jobs with buttons
20 atm and above - all type of swimming, diving + button use

Rubbish. Just because some people post here that they have problems does not detract from the overall performance of the watch for others in open water.
