Fenix 7X solar sapphire - GPS losing connection?

I got a new Fenix 7X solar sapphire at the beginning of July and for the first couple of weeks it was brilliant, however since the middle of July it seems to be losing GPS connection and my pace and speed keep dropping to 0.0 even though I am still moving, this is affecting my average moving speed.

Pictures 1 and 2 are from early July when it was working, pace graph is nice and smooth and drops in pace correspond with drops in stroke rate.

Pictures 3 and 4 are from August, the pace graph shows many drops in pace even though stroke rate in continuous.

These are on the same canal so there are no differences in surrounding vegetation/buildings etc.

Is this a GPS issue? What can I do to resolve it?

Hi there, did you configure another setting for the gps signal in running settings? I don’t have the same problem but sometimes when it very cloudy the watch takes a little time to connect to gps. To look at your actual setting you have to start the activity Running/Laufen and then long press the menu button. Chose Running setting/Laufen-Einstellungen. Scroll to the gps setting and try another setting for the next run. If it is very cloudy I use a different setting, for example for Intervalls I use All and Multiband as setting. Perhaps you want to try it. I don‘t have another idea, but I am using my 7X SS since April and I am no specialist. ;)

Thank you, yes I have tried the different settings for GPS/satellites but it still seems to lose connection and shows speed and pace as 0 at times whichever setting it is on. I have tried switching GPS off and back on again, and I have tried switching the watch off and on again. I've also set data recording to every second but still no difference.

Thanks, that is my next step! I was hoping I wouldn’t have to do that and thought I would check here for other solutions first.

There is an active bug where using IQ widgets during an activity disconnects GPS. If you did, that's how it is at the moment.

Hi there, yesterday the next beta 9.28 has been delivered by Garmin. It’s looking stable for me, but read yourself in the beta forum. Perhaps it would be a solution trying out the beta before resetting the device? With this step you would not lose data?!

ActiveEmma This is really interesting as I'm having EXACTLY the same issue with mine with paddle sports and it happened at EXACTLY the same time (July 2022). I have been on to Garmin support and provided log files, screen shots etc with no resolution as yet.
