Feature Request: Larger font on Fenix 7

I am a huge fan of my Fenix 6 and I just upgraded to the Fenix 7. I'm just starting to need reading glasses and could just barely make out the fonts on my Fenix 6 without glasses but not well. Wearing my new Fenix 7 I find it is just enough more difficult for that I really can't read the watch without my reading glasses. I do most activities throughout a day without readers so it would be a huge improvement for my experience with the Fenix 7 if the font could be made larger and or more legible.

Comparing my Fenix 6 Sapphire side by side with my new Fenix 7 Sapphire Solar, with my reading glasses on, it seems the font on the 6 was actually a tiny but smaller but is more legible. Perhaps it is more crisp or it has slightly more space between letters.

I am attaching a photo of my favorite watch face. There is plenty of empty space around my data fields for larger characters and it would make this watch so much better for me and anyone who requires reading glasses! Could a configurable font size feature be coming soon to the Fenix 7?

I am a big fan of Sapphire glass. I wore my Fenix 6 Sapphire 6 for 2+ years every day and hard wear and tear without a single scratch on the face. Much better than  previous experience with regular watches with regular glass. However the Fenix 7 Sapphire is only available with the Solar option too. I could take or leave solar, it wasn't a selling point for me. If it is the solar glass making the watch more difficult to read, I would do please for a Sapphire SKU that doesn't have solar.

  • This is my favorite watch face and data fields. I just need bigger fonts these days to be able to read it without reading glasses.

  • I'm with him. I don't know who thought this was a good idea but even with good eyesight most of the stock watchface data is way too small to read. Tactix 7 pro

  • Would be a nice feature to have option to adjust font size for each watch face. Hopefully it's not too complicate to implement.

  • I'd like bigger fonts for the rest of the watch also. All the lines of the sleep data is very hard to see with my older eyes. Especially in the morning...

  • Yeah, that should be doable as well. For example, Android has that implemented for years.

  • When you think of it, it’s actually pretty weird Garmin has no accessibility options for the watch? Everyone else has that… bigger fonts, inversion of colours, high contrast mode, sounds etc etc.

  • Exactly! And even more surprising is that more users are not requesting that. Maybe most of them are (still) young :)

  • I would love that feature, it's really annoying when starting an activity, getting a message from Garmin as to what you should or should not be doing....  being unable to read it, it's a bit of a crap shoot as to how I respond, and the consequences of that response can mess up the whole activity.

  • UPDATE: I went to my local running store to compare the different options for Fenix 7 watches.

I have a minor vision correction need. I use readers for close up reading and detail work. +1.0 in one eye and +1.25 in the other.

Here is how the Fenix 7 watches work me, in terms of most legible to least:

    • Best - Fenix 7 Standard
    • Less readable / okay in bright light - Fenix 7X Sapphire Solar
    • Least readable that I tried - Fenix 7 Sapphire Solar

    Take aways:

    • I am returning my Fenix 7 Sapphire Solar and getting a Fenix 7 Standard instead, it was markedly more comfortable to read
    • As much as I love Sapphire, since it is only available with the Solar Glass, I will forgo Sapphire and live with scratches if they occur
    • I liked the built in flashlight and the larger size of the 7X, but even the bigger size could not overcome the lower contrast of Solar

WISH LIST: Please make a non-Solar Fenix 7X. I would be all over this SKU! The larger size and the better transparency of non-solar glass would make this my dream watch. If I have to wait for a Fenix 8X non-solar, so be it, but please include this combination in the future.

I don't think Sapphire hurts transparency the way Solar Glass does. My idea watch would be the larger size with non-solar glass. I like the added scratch resistance of Sapphire if it doesn't come at a cost of lower contrast.

  • The solution is the Garmin Descent Mk 2i, a 7X without solar or touch screen!
