Missing trail data

I have recently been to 2 different state parks here in southern Texas. Guadalupe River state park and Mckinney Falls state park to be precise. For The Guadalupe river state park map data it was missing nearly 90% of the trails. If you look up the state park and look at the area on your watch there is almost no red dotted lines matching the trail map. At McKinney falls state park most of the trails were there but weirdly there was an entire 1.5 mile loop trail missing from the 11 something total miles of trail. Has anyone else had this issue and if so did you report it? Where did you report it? And did ever get updated? I even plugged in my watch (fenix 7X solar) to do a last minute maps update before i went out yesterday.

I’ve often found the default Garmin maps are not up to date when it comes to trails. You might check that the Details setting under Maps is set to high. Also use a PC or phone to make a course and…

This might be a dumb question, but did you zoom in on your watch? You probably did, but I thought I'd mention it because I made that mistake before myself! Once I zoomed in on my F7XSS, I saw more of the trails.

Yeah I'm sure it's not a zooming issue. In the pics below if you look at the trail that splits off just after the 4mile marker and has the 5mile marker in it is completely missing on my Garmin watch maps. Since they are not oriented the same it might be a tad difficult to see.

I’ve often found the default Garmin maps are not up to date when it comes to trails. You might check that the Details setting under Maps is set to high. Also use a PC or phone to make a course and see if the trails are there. In the end you can always add your own map for the area.

Thanks for the heads up. I was wondering if adding my own map of the area was doable. I'll look into. Thanks again!

DCRainmaker has a good tutorial for loading 3rd-party maps onto a Garmin watch:

There are lots, and lots of maps you can load. One of the favorites around here is TalkyToaster:

And if you want to get really way into it, you can even make and load your own maps into the watch. It's crazy how powerful the mapping software in these watches is. For example, I downloaded a PDF of the (paper) Disneyland theme park map one time, and turned it into a map layer and loaded it onto my watch!

Another cool trick is loading Garmin Birdseye satellite imagery onto your watch - it'll let you see all kinds of stuff that may not show up on other maps - like meadows, rock fields, treelines, and sometimes even game trails, etc. I use it all the time whenever there's a trail fork and only one way shows up on my map, I can look at birdseye imagery on my watch to see if the unmarked trail goes somewhere interesting.
