Body Battery decrease morning vs. evening

I usually have very high body battery ratings in the morning when I wake up between 7-8am (90-100, my sleep score on average is at about 80-85) but often reach 10-15 towards the end of the day, if I had a stressful day or doing an cycling activity in the evening sometimes it ranges from 5-10. What I realised when looking at the body battery scores is that even though I have rather average stress in the morning my body battery is at 50-60 at 12 when having lunch. It seems like the decrease is rather exponential in the morning until 12 and then to some degree flattens towards the evening (I am losing less points from 12-20). Towards the night the decrease seems to slow down, the last points seems harder to decrease than the first points.

Do you see similar trends for your curves?

Cheers

Michael

  • Yes, noticed the same thing. Even if I sit on the couch all morning, body battery is halved by noon.

In the afternoon it drops considerably slower unless my stress is really high.

I also noticed that if I don't sleep well and have like 40-50 BB in the morning, it drops much slower than if it was at 80 for example.

So the lower the BB - the slower it drops I guess.

  • Yes, this is my assumption too.

  • I wonder if this has anything to do with each person's cortisol levels during their wake up routine. Cortisol being the natural chemical our bodies use to wake ourselves up, could be taking a lot longer to clear the system and allow the ANS to enter parasympathetic state during our morning routines. I know my body battery drops 15-35 points in the first 2-3 hours of wake up. Then the rate of decrease slows down. It doesn't appear to be too consistent with activity because my evening routine is just as active as my morning, yet the slope is much more gradual.
