Add waypoint to current location on watch

Is there a way to add a waypoint to my current location ON THE WATCH itself? Seems like such a basic function. You hike along a route, see something interesting, mark current location, move on. Have looked high and low for this and I can't figure it out.

To quickly mark a location, you can select "Save Location" from the controls menu - you need to configure your controls menu to have this control included.

I use Garmin Explore for this. Here you have a bigger screen. Simply tap the location on the mal, then navigate…. The Fenix starts there also within an activity.

But you need to have the phone out, no? Kind of defeats the point of having the watch. There are far, far, far better navigation apps than the Garmin's crap.

A nice feature would be to log a position with a track. I often like to record landmarks during an activity. However waypoints are recorded independently of tracks. In my software I correlate and add waypoints to tracks when exporting to gpx (based on datetime)

I setup the GPS button as a Save Location Hot Key. One press location saved. I use this method all the time. Especially useful during a bike or run when I don't want to look at the screen.
