Fenix 7 Sapphire Solar - Poor Battery life after 8.37

OK so I've read that a previous version 8.35 I think was held back for battery life issues.  I got my watch about 2-2.5 weeks ago and it's been going great.  There was one firmware update in that time that was no problem.  I had 12 days of battery left on my watch at the time 8.37 was installed and the next day the watch was telling me 6 days.

So this thread I started because I wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this.

No I didn't change anything on the watch and no I don't use watch faces with extra data requirements.

I will wait and see anyway, how many days it goes back to once I have to charge it again in 6 days or so.

Hopefully it's all just a weird co-incidence.

  • And are you still averaging 400k Lux/hr per day? I finished charging mine 4 hours after you and am down 31% with just one 47min activity (SatIQ GPS + music + Stryd). During this time period I had only about 90k Lux/hr.

  • Mine is also draining in about 10 to 12 days even while getting lots of sunshine, used to be 20!!

  • No, nothing close to 400k lux, the weather has not been sunny.

This is my battery usage today

At the start of the day 76% (about 4 days ago I charged to 100%)

After 3 hours indoor today ride, I used 4%

  • Now down to 63% 5 days fter charging to 100%

About 2 hours of GPS on my long Sunday run used 5% (was 68% on wake up)

No lux benefit as I started my run before 6AM.

gps seems to use a bit less than I'd expect?

  • Found the issue!! (for me)

I removed the weather app, changed to sleep watch face (10pm to 7am), and only GPS only. Then restart.

Before 8.37 my battery was good, no issues. But after 8.37 drained two or three times faster. But I am back to a good battery. I think it is the weather app, how it updates information, and where I put my phone when I sleep. I think it is burning battery trying to update when my phone is away from me. Good luck.
