Fenix 7 Sapphire Solar - Poor Battery life after 8.37

OK so I've read that a previous version 8.35 I think was held back for battery life issues.  I got my watch about 2-2.5 weeks ago and it's been going great.  There was one firmware update in that time that was no problem.  I had 12 days of battery left on my watch at the time 8.37 was installed and the next day the watch was telling me 6 days.

So this thread I started because I wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this.

No I didn't change anything on the watch and no I don't use watch faces with extra data requirements.

I will wait and see anyway, how many days it goes back to once I have to charge it again in 6 days or so.

Hopefully it's all just a weird co-incidence.

  • You'll need to download from connect iq and install on Yr watch.

  •  I can't find that widget under glances. Are you using 9.28b?

9.14 alpha - if you have it on in your firmware you can go into Widgets and add Device Usage

I'm wondering how you and you and ) are getting so much battery life!

I think I am getting a good benefit from solar - this morning I went for a 2 hour bike ride and battery is still 28% and it was 32% about 7PM yesterday - so 4% consumed in about 21 hours. I am using Automode GPS (SatIQ)

What configuration options could account for such a difference?

The big things that consume battery are PulseOX (I never use it) and GPS (use a lot) and music - I do not really think there are any configuration options that can make a massive difference to battery life otherwise.

I do not use CIQ - this obviously causes battery issues as removing all CIQ is always the first thing Garmin suggests if you have issues with battery life.

But as I said above, for me this is doing better than I expected and I think solar must be a factor - here in the UK it has been very sunny for the last 6 weeks with another heatwave here. Usually i tend to think I get about 50% of what Garmin suggests.

  • I deleted HR widget on the watchface itself. Just gym no training (for now, so no GPS use). But I like battery again. Software 8.37

  • Now it's clear - you must have a Fenix 7X like . They are advertised to last up to 28 days in smartwatch mode compared with the Fenix 7 (37, 22 respectively with recommended solar charge). I was so focused on how your configurations differ that I forgot to think you might have a different model...

So now I'm back to square one: why am I only getting 13-14 days in smartwatch mode (with about 20% of the recommended solar charge) with a very basic configuration and hardly any interaction with the watch?

  • I have the Saphir 7 and getting 3.8%/day. I am really surprised because with HR widget it was 8.6%/day

  • Now it's clear - you must have a Fenix 7X like . T

I thought I was clear when I said my results were 'this is with a F7, not 7s or X.' - I think probably it will be around 16 days, maybe 17 in total.

For avoidance of any doubt even though I am quite sure I know what watch I own :)

  • I have the Saphir 7 and getting 3.8%/day. I am really surprised because with HR widget it was 8.6%/day

I'm getting about 7% per day with HR on the default watch face...

I thought I was clear when I said my results were 'this is with a F7, not 7s or X.' -

So you actually do have a Fenix 7SS like me, which is supposed to last 18-22 days but you're somehow getting 26 days and with only 50% of the recommended solar charge? How?

By the way, I'm on 9.28b and I do not have this device usage widget when editing my widgets/glances...

  • but you're somehow getting 26 days and with only 50% of the recommended solar charge? How?

Can you point to where I said 26 days? I think you are confused with another poster, my watch yesterday showed about 13 days usage, and 14 days today. Obviously anyone claiming 26-28 days has a 7x, and probably never actually does any activities!

  • Today i had 6% down with morning 30 min running (gps and Spotify), gym 1hr and swimming 1hr.

  • You're right, I confused you with LR13 probably. And your 13-14 days uptime seems to be with activities as well? When I say mine lasts 13-14 days it's smartwatch only. Last charge was 57 hours ago, lost 17% (no activities) -> 13,97 days per 100%.
