Extend Display (Edge 1030) - data field mix-ups

The Extended Display feature in connection with Edge 1030 was not working for me initially with my F7X.

Once connected, the values on the Edge 1030 froze. While I still had my F6xpro-solar at that time, I could reconfirm it working excellent.

Mostly I use it for rowing to have stroke-rate and pace in sight.

With the software 8.18 it now works again, however there may be mix-ups with data fields.

In rowing activity the stroke-rate field actually shows stamina on the Edge 1030 extended screen, while showing stroke-rate on F7x.

Could someone confirm this please or identify other issues with mixed datafields?

I assume with the newly introduced stamina, Garmin was just implementing it sloppily not caring about extended display yet.

  • my case is Fenix 7x with Edge 130 plus. It has field "cadence", but it is not reflecting what is on fenix. The stroke rate on edge is not changing. it is always showing "99". All other data is correct

  • Did you ever resolve this? I have a Fenix 7 with an Edge 830. The stroke rare always shows as 80 or 79. No idea what it is picking up but clearly not the stroke rate.

Seems like a simple bug in the code.

    Any ideas greatfully received.

  • I seem to be having the same issue (3 years later in May 2025).   Thanks for at least explaining to me that it's showing stamina. I was wondering why it said 100.

It seems embarrassing for Gamin that such a simple problem hasn't be fixed for over 3 years.  It seems like it must be as small as just mixing up an index value in some bit of code somewhere.

I do wish they would fix it.  The extended display mode is definitely helpful for making the most of rowing workouts.
