Why won't Garmin Express see my watch(es)

Throughout all the Garmin watches I have had, I have always had issues with Garmin connect seeing the connected watches.

How can this still be a problem, or is there a complex protocol I have to follow to get this poorly app to see my USB connected watch?

How do you guys get this to work?

I haven't had any issues so far. Correct me if I misunderstood but you have the issue when your watch is plugged in onto a computer it's not being detected/recognised. If this is correct then you need to check if the USB mode on your watch is set to MTP. Settings >System>USB mode.

I had the same problem with one of my Windows 11 computers. Long story short, it was my computers USB port. I use a different computer now, and it works great. I recently got a USB-C to Garmin cable on Amazon, and have been using the USB-C port recently.

Thanks for the reply here.
You are correct in the issue. I have checked the watch setting, and see it's set to MTP, is this the correct setting?

I finally managed to get it to sync, but it was after a restart of all devices. It's just cumbersome to get it to work. But it seems like it just me have the issues. I have had the issues with all my different computers and watches over the last 10 years. Perhaps it can be something with my Garmin Express/Connect setting that can conflict.

Hi Dan,
I have just the connectors coming together with the watches, but it is annoying to need a dongle or dockingstation to convert to USB-A. Is the device you use something like this:

Hi. The real issue for me was one of my computers' USB just did not like Garmin. Don't know why. My other computers work just fine. So, I now sync on my other computer.

My car has USB Type C charger, as well as my other home chargers.

So, I got the following from Amazon to go with my Fenix 7X. Works great so far.
