Sad to see Beta software restricted

I have enjoyed the Beta program releases and have often chosen to install and test them once I see they don't have issues and are being immediately recalled. There have also been some I have chosen not to install. This new Beta Program which requires enrollment and involuntary installations of the Beta releases is not for me and I will no longer participate. It seems to me that this method defeats the entire purpose of the Beta testing program. I hope that Garmin will chose to make the Beta releases available for optional installation as before.

Turn on and off the opt in for the beta program as it fits your needs.

Some people are eagle after testing new but others not that much.

I guess it’s ok having to enroll for the beta program but the update could well be optional. Actually I think it should be optional for the final too. We have seen finals being rolled back several times.

I consider myself an early adaptor but not an eagle one.

I had always follower beta’s threads, since the Pilots, and installed them after listening people about corrections and flaws but at my will. That’s the whole point. We just should be asked for updates being beta or production.

So, I signed up for the Beta program but have not seen the update pushed to the Connect App. How long should this take? Thanks.

Yes. Thanks to encouraging replies from forum users such as yourself I decided to give the new Beta program a try. I have been a Garmin and Beta user since the beginning. Thanks.

On the device settings page it says "beta enrolled" and says that my "software is up to date" on version 7.35. Shouldn't it be 8.18? Thanks!

when I enrolled on beta, I connected my watch to GE and waited a few mins, then when I removed the watch it upgraded to 8.18

Yes, on GE it worked...though nothing had been pushed to my Connect mobile app. Thanks!

While the beta will be pushed to you like a final release, I fully expect the option to turn auto update on or off will remain a feature of the settings menu. I have in the past decided to turned auto update off and deferred final builds. I expect this will also be true of the beta builds. The beta or final version being pushed does not necessarily lead to a download and install.
