I have updated my Fenix 7S Solar Sapphire to 8.15Beta, but then I had to re-pair it to my phone (Pixel 3 / Android 12) because the Bluetooth settings were wiped on the phone. I read that Android 12 Bluetooth connectivity with Garmin Connect is hit/miss, but I had lost half a day trying to figure out why my watch refused to pair with the Phone.
The Phone app popped up the PIN dialog, entered the pin but then immediately "pairing failed". Rebooted both the watch and the phone, reset the app permissions, reinstalled Garmin Connect, updated to 8.16 Beta, etc. Nothing helped. But then I thought -- I should try resetting the watch. I did "reset settings to default" to keep my personal settings; and finally the watched paired with the app the first time!
But then to my dismay, I found that my training status was lost on the watch. I did not select "reset all", and all my activities .fit files are still on it. So I'm puzzled why the training status got lost. Will it get synced back eventually from Garmin Connect, or is this data now completely lost?
There really should be an option to just reset the Bluetooth/Wifi configuration on the watch! I don't want to go through setting everything up again just because the bluetooth stack is crap and re-pairing with the same phone is apparently unsupported.
