Live track, how can enable/disable from my watch ? And/or how can check if active ? Any icon/app in the watch ?

I'm fairly certain you can only change the settings from your phone Garmin connect app. You will get a notification on your watch about 5-10 seconds after you start the activity if live tracking is active. After that, I just look at my phone and I get a persistent notification showing live tracking is active (Android). 

While you are in an activity, hold the menu button (the middle on the left).

It will give you the option to turn off livetrack. That's the way I check to know if it's running or not.

I see and thanks. It works, I was looking for it while navigating the Maps or Navigation, not available in there.

It's a shame. Great potentiality for this powerful feature but not explored as it should...

How I see it:

I want to be "tracked" live, so I enable it (i.e. Live Tracking as a menu/activity item) and from that moment onward people I shared the link with can track me. I don't necessarily want to start a Run or Walk etc... just Live Tracking till I stop it. Perhaps it is only me needing that but really it is pretty basic and useful need sometimes.

Live tracking needs a big update. For example I need the link to share before I start. It's a waste of time to start the activity, wait for the email it sends to myself to get the link to share on messenger or status. That's all time I should be moving already.

In GCM I set up the email addresses of those I want to share my whereabouts. When I go for a ride/run and hit start I do not have to worry about any links and I can focus on my training as live track starts automatically and emails are sent out.

If I remember correctly, I manually start live track and I think that the mail is sent when I start live track on phone and I can do that in-house long before getting gps on on the watch. They when I go outside and get a gps fix, position is started to be sent.

Ok, seems they did a rework. I only used it 2 times in my Garmin history, few years back I only got the link after starting the recording. 2nd time it failed and I couldn't  get it to run without stopping my activity again (didn't want do do that).

So checked the menu again today, you are right I can start it before, and they now even allow direct sharing of the link in the phones interface, no need for the email to myself anymore.

I would say this is why "Garmin connect" needs changelogs, this was just random chance for me noticing this improvement.

I fully support the idea Garmin starts to share change logs for GCM updates

The problem is, that unless you start an outdoor activity, the GPS is turned off, so the tracking is not possible. Simply start an activity, and the LiveTrack will do what you are looking for.
