Reocording sleep naps - problem

Recently I bought the Garmin Fenix 7x sapphire solar titanium carbon gray dlc with titanium bracelet, i spent for it 1,200 €.

I find it unacceptable that I can not record my afternoon sleep (naps) , when you go to bed at noon or in the afternoon, it records your sleep from the night until the time you woke up, not being able to separate and record both sleeps  simultaneously.  Unacceptable for a smartwatch of this reputation and price.  If I knew I would not have taken it.  Garmin has to fix it right away!

  • When you nap,  do you sleep?
Does Garmin Connect report total sleep time accurately if the first answer is 'yes'?
Then it doesn't do what it's supposed to do.

Your watch will record more than one sleep period per day, but will only keep one - usually the one that is recorded during your specified usual sleep period.

If you "nap" during the day, and then sleep at night, your night sleep period will be the only one recorded.

This is the definition of "what it's supposed to do."

If your Body Battery increases/stays the same  in value (depending on the duration of the "nap") during your "nap," which is also supposed to happen, then what, exactly, are you losing with only your night sleep recorded?

In any event, your watch is doing exactly what it is supposed to do.  If this does not coincide with what you wish it would do, then find another device.

  • Thanks.  I didn't realize Garmin had appointed you the arbiter of every user's opinion and all the functions now and forever on the watch I purchased.

  • I agree, nap tracking like breathwork would be neat.  Power nap, cat nap, whatever nap to accomplish different goals.  But while it does not track "naps" specifically ... I would argue it indirectly tracks it via body battery.  Do you recognize that it increases when you nap?

  • I understand.  I just think it would be nice for users to initiate the activity just like other activities then stop it when they get up.   It doesn't have to be automatic.  It could then be displayed alongside the nighttime sleep data.   I think it's reasonable users make suggestions.   It's a big part of any company's product development.  Don't get me wrong.  I like the feature.  It's very helpful.  But part of my sleep issue is I take naps and would like a more direct method of tracking it.

  • Hey - this is a forum where members obviously can have different point of views. However, if someone takes time to share some background information that could be helpful for you then please appreciate it or write nothing.

No, Gaijin was not appointed by Garmin. He just stepped in (as in many other occasions during the last xy years here and on whatchuseek) to shed some light on the topic to help you to get better understanding what is the reason behind "Recording sleep naps - problem". He didn't sell the watch saying it will record your naps.

If you expected naps to be recorded I understand you're not happy. I'd wait and see if this will be implemented or sell the watch and purchase one that works in a way you would expect.

  • I was having a different point of view and was told if I didn't like it,  I could buy another watch.  I do not find that helpful or polite.   So I answered in kind.

I did not 'expect' them to be recorded.  I was voicing my opinion,  but I guess it's only ones made by legacy members that have any respect around here.

Good day. I'm done with this discussion.  It's obvious it isn't wanted,  your words to the contrary.

  • It appears you missed all those sentences where it was described how the function in scope works and you just took note of the 2 last sentences :) If you have any ideas it's better to make sure to share them with Garmin as well using any of the official channels available. One of these is the one indicated above. Peace V

  • Not sure if it was a recent firmware update, (I use the beta program), you can manually enable sleep for naps on your fenix 7, data will show sleep time and nap time in the sleep widget. It ont track sep movement though
