Auto Lap using time

fenix 7X SS software version 7.35

The Auto Lap function is limited to distance or position, both of which are useless indoor, on an indoor trainer for example.

On my Garmin Edge 530 I can set the Auto Lap also using time, which comes in handy during long endurance/base sessions, to analyze average lap HR and check cardiac drift.

I tipically use 10 or 15 minutes and I think it's strange that on a much more expensive device like the fenix 7X SS, this option is not available.

you can create a workout with specific duration splits. Just make sure to repeat it enough times :) it should do the trick

Because distance changes in relation with the gear I'm in: if I pedal @200W using my lowest gear I'm doing a lot less distance than in my highest gear in the same amount of time.

This is true because ERG mode keeps you at the same power, but you can change your gear freely, do use more momentum (simulating flat road) or less momentum (simulating climbs).

Firstly, the price of the Garmin device is irrelevant. Different devices. Different features.
Secondly, submit suggestions for any Garmin device, irrespective of price, to www.garmin.com/.../

If you browse this forum, you will see a lot of topics proposing new implementations, because new implementations make the devices better devices, that can stand up against the competitors, and more over make the users, the buyers, happy, so they continue to buy Garmin products. As me, for example (I have a long list of Garmin devices and I know their lack in software releases and testing).

Of course I can submit a request to Garmin, but if a request has a strong base of followers in the Garmin Forum, Garmin is more prone to take it into consideration and make more people happy.

I'll send a suggestion, thank you.

The Instinct2 just got this feature. You'd think the fenix will get it also.

Where? I can't see it in the release notes for the latest beta release...unless I've missed it of course then feel free to correct me.

Added auto lap by position setting.

is the only reference to auto lap that I can see.
