Barometric Altimeter vs GPS Altimeter (3D Speed)

GPS should be more accurate because barometric depends of weather. I think that Garmin corrects barometric altitude once is synced

What? That Garmin is correcting altitude? Or that GPS is more accurate?

If Garmin corrects based on gps.

I have seen others comment and say that gps is only used to calibrate but not track elevation during an activity. 

GPS is much less accurate than the barometric. Otherwise there would be no advantage in having a barometric altimeter.

That isn't quite true. The barometric altimeter will work perfectly when there is no GPS signal present. Like most places indoors.

That doesn't explain why aircrafts have barometric altimeters. I don't think they have problems of being indoors.

All aircraft have barometric altimeters, its the primary instrument for determining altitude.

Some planes, not all, especially GA planes dont have GPS at all.

Commercial planes have barometric altimeters, they also usually have GPS for navigation, they also have radio altimeters used when landing for accurate height determination.

If GPS is more accurate, why bother having barometric at all?

OK guys.  I'm officially confused now.  Let me ask this....  I'm currently on the beach on the Pacific coast of Mexico.  Does it make sense to go stand with my feet in the water and then manually set the altitude to 3 feet (about wrist level above the water).  If I manually correct altitude and set it at sea-level like that, how long does the altitude stay calibrated?  Until I turn off the watch?  If I'm hiking and see a surveyed marker for altitude, is it wise to manually adjust?
