Backlight off when turning your wrist back down/away ?

I am using a second 7X, the first I returned as I was still deciding between the Epix 2 and Fenix 7X.

The first 7X I had, I am sure when backlight gesture was on, it turned the back light on when turning your wrist towards you, then turned it off when turned away, I could tell because it was shorter than the timeout set.

But the second 7X I have now, turns on the backlight when turning the wrist towards me correctly, but it does not turn off when turning the wrist away, it just turns off based on the timeout.

Can anyone confirm?

yeah during activity it doesn't turn it off on wrist down, just checked

Mine hangs on for the duration of time out. does not turn off when you turn away.

Mine turns it off, as it should. 7 SS with 7.24 FW.

See if you are on the latest firmware, and restart the watch

I have that FW, i only use it during activity after sunset, maybe that is different?
Will check it out again and see if my experience is correct.

yeah during activity it doesn't turn it off on wrist down, just checked

Yep, that did it.
Its already on 7.24 firmware as it did an auto update during the first night I had it, and I assume that it would have done the required restart then.

Anyway I just did a power off and on, and now it is working the backlight as expected.

Backlight turns on with gesture, then turns off as you turn the wrist away, this is during General use.
I will check if it does the same during an activity

Double checking but I think I may have found a Bug:

Backlight wrist gesture on:

During Activity - turns on with wrist gesture, does not turn off with wrist turning away, this could be by design, possibly since during an activity your arms could be moving around a lot more.

General Use - turns on with wrist gesture and turns off with wrist turning away, which is good to conserve battery.

However, at some point the backlight turning off with gesture away stops working, but I cant seem to find the trigger that stops it working.
All I did was fiddle with the backlight settings a few times, such as change to "after sunset" or the time from 8 to 4 secs, then suddenly I found it stopped working, even if I put the settings back.

Only a reboot of the watch fixes it again.
