On the Fenix 7S does the thermometer widget measure temperature inside the watch when not connected to a Tempe? Could you basically take the watch off and use it to measure ambient temperature when it’s not in contact with your body?

The tempe and the watch thermometer work exactly as well as each other. Both are very accurate, but both can be equally influenced by sunlight or body heat. The disadvantage of the watch thermometer is…
If that is true, then Garmin should say so and tell everyone to get a Tempe.
Tempe can be as bogus as the internal sensor, or even more.
I know because I own a Tempe and I am a temperature…
I’ve found Tempe to be incredibly accurate for recording cold temperatures, especially overnight
My previous remark was that Tempe works poorly when exposed to direct sunlight. I don…
Yes. I found it normally takes about 30 minutes to read ambient temperature after removed from my wrist. I find it helpful hanging from my tent while camping. When I do a Google search it brings this up with the 945, but it'll be the same.

How accurate is it compared to the Tempe?
Probably pretty comparable, but the issue with it in common usage is that the watch will be influenced by your body heat while the tempe can be put elsewhere where this influence is not present, therefore providing a more appropriate data point.
I found the Tempe can read a little high if it's in direct sunlight. The best readings I've gotten from the Tempe is on a bike ride when attached under the seat. As far as removing the watch and setting it outside of direct sunlight, it's fairly accurate according to my phone.
The tempe and the watch thermometer work exactly as well as each other. Both are very accurate, but both can be equally influenced by sunlight or body heat. The disadvantage of the watch thermometer is, obviously, it will always be influenced by your body heat and will nearly always be in direct sunlight, whereas the tempe is easy to place somewhere off-body and shaded.
I like the new temperature widget, useful when you’re camping. I attach the Tempe to my tent guy line. You can scroll through the temperature variations over the previous night.
I use Tempe that way too. However, while running and walking I put it on my foot and definitely affected to some amount under the sun or the body heat...
I’ve been wondering if it works that way! I’ve had the Tempe a few years ago and all it provided back then was a current readout, while I am more interested in a 24hr chart as the internal sensor provides.
So when you connect the Tempe to the fenix 7, it will provide you a chart you can scroll through? And the internal temperature will be displayed somewhere as well?
Yes the widget will use temperature data from the Tempe by default when it’s connected and you should be able to scroll back. But I don’t think it saves the interval temp as well. Or maybe it does because it uses that for the barometric altimeter?
Can anyone tell me more about using the thermometer while swimming? I thought I would be able to check the pool temp when swimming laps, that readout displays only a series of dashes - no data.
