anyone loaded Garmin's bird's eye imagery maps on Fenix 7 or 6?
Is it work well or any better than topo active maps preloaded?

It's only an imagery overlay for the maps, it doesn't not have any roads, trails, labels, etc. Just raster imagery, and that's it - so it's not meant as something to replace the topoactive maps, it works…
I don´t like it on a wearable, the display is really not big enough for a serious benefit of birdseye (for me). and for some (a lot ?) areas, the birdseye resolution is just bad and you did not get a crispy…
Yes it's definitely got worse since Garmin updated their image's, the old images looked much better on my 5x.... but the new images are more washed out on my Fenix 5x plus and Fenix 6x Sapphire, but are…
It's only an imagery overlay for the maps, it doesn't not have any roads, trails, labels, etc. Just raster imagery, and that's it - so it's not meant as something to replace the topoactive maps, it works in conjunction with them (or any other maps). The topoactive maps get shown on top of the birdseye imagery, the result being like what you'd see in Google maps with the satellite layer turned on.
I've used it on my 6X, and it worked great. Loved it. Here's my thread about it: https://forums.garmin.com/outdoor-recreation/outdoor-recreation/f/fenix-6-series/257645/birdseye-imagery
I tried putting it on my fenix 7, and it worked for a very short time before the watch bricked itself. I've hesitated to install birdseye onto my replacement fenix 7, because I don't know if that was a reason for my first one getting bricked or not. It's a little suspicious that the watch got bricked at the precise moment when I unplugged my watch from my PC after loading another round of birdseye imagery onto it.
So I'm sort of just patiently waiting for someone else to do it first, and say it works, before I try it again.
Oh thanks i think you saved me 1k I can't get replacement here in iraq and if you didn't told me that the first thing i did would be loading it to my watch tomorrow
Thanks
Yes I have a few gigs loaded onto my Fenix 6x Sapphire BLK DLC.... Works perfectly as a base layer as C. sco said....
I'm sorry to hear C.sco 's watch may of needed to of been replaced because of birdsye, I would be still be interested to hear if anyone has had full success with a Fenix 7.
I don´t like it on a wearable, the display is really not big enough for a serious benefit of birdseye (for me). and for some (a lot ?) areas, the birdseye resolution is just bad and you did not get a crispy view on the small wearable display.
Yeah that was my concern too especially with Fenixs " lack of colors" and low resolution display but still I can't decide before i see it
That´s correct! And the quality of the birdseye resolution for the area you want to use it, is a big point to consider.
Yes it's definitely got worse since Garmin updated their image's, the old images looked much better on my 5x.... but the new images are more washed out on my Fenix 5x plus and Fenix 6x Sapphire, but are OK in some areas.
Note to OP... You can try a free sample download through basecamp of satalite imagery, for a small area of your choice if you wish to.
Totally depends on the area, for sure. Some areas I've noticed have pretty bad quality, while others are quite good and also very recent. For example, one area I like to hike near where I live, there's a giant burn scar on the birdseye imagery, from a fire that just happened last August - and the resolution and quality of the area is also quite good. In other areas, I can see housing developments under construction in birdseye, which I know for a fact got finished a decade ago. So it varies.
I believe you can download sample birdseye imagery to test it out in Basecamp before you buy the subscription, you just can't send it to a device until you buy it. So maybe that's worth doing, if you're on the fence.
As Volker mentioned, the quality on a Fenix screen isn't great, the 64 colors limitation of our screens really doesn't do it any favors (and NO, the Fenix 7 screen does not have 256 colors, it is only 64 and birdseye looks exactly the same as it did on F6). However, I found it to be "good enough" for my needs. You can easily see rockfields, treelines, beaches, buildings, trails, etc, which is all I really need it for. Plus it's useful for when you come across a trail or intersection that wasn't on your map, you can use the birdseye to see where the unknown trails go.
For $29, it's totally worth in in my opinion - but only IF it works on the Fenix 7. It definitely does work to some extent, I had it working for 2 days with about 500MB of imagery loaded onto it. So it's definitely not a compatibility issue, however it might be a stability issue.
Yo lo tuve en un Fenix 5X Plus y funcionaba bien.
Dependiendo del tipo de terreno, merecia la pena o no, la superposicion.
