LED Flashlight is Awesome

I just wanted to thank Garmin for this ingenious little flashlight on F7X. This a fantastic idea that should be transferred to all other watches. Epix 2X and beyond. Very creative thinking and awesome implementation. Next idea: ir blaster to control TVs and other entertainment devices.

  • Did you know it turns on with its last setting if you double tap the light button? :)

  • Yes. I knew that but thanks for a reminder for anyone that searches for this.

  • Garmin knocked the ball out of the park with this one - it's such a basic, simple addition that hardly anyone even was asking for, that ended up being super useful for pretty much everyone that has it!

I remember when I was purchasing my 7X, I was thinking it was just kind of neat but also silly and not really necessary, but I was planning on getting the 7X anyways (the flashlight certainly wasn't a feature that sold me on choosing that model). But now that I have it, I find myself using it more than any single other feature on the watch (second maybe only to smart notifications). Literally I probably use the flashlight more times each day than I use the watch for checking the time. Sure, I could just keep using my phone's flashlight as I had been doing for years, but it's sooooo much more convenient having it always on my wrist.

  • I kind of dismissed the X as being too big. The light made me rethink and realize it's basically the same size as my first Garmin Fenix5.

And I could very well imagine using the flashlight when locking up in the evening for my summer job, where I'm always getting my phone out of my pocket and one hand is busy. That will be very convenient for me :)

  • One of the best unexpected features of the Fenix 7!

I set BACK + LIGHT as a Hot Key for the Flashlight.  This allows me to Double Press the Light button to turn on the Flashlight and a BACK + LIGHT if I want change the settings.  ;-)

I did exactly the same thing! Back+Light was always my hotkey combo for "flashlight" on my Fenix 6, so it made sense to make that my hotkey for the flashlight settings on the F7.

I find that just leaving mine on Red mode is good enough for almost every time I've needed to use it, I've only manually kicked it into bright white mode a couple times.
