7X Solar battery life is ridiculous

With a number of issues I've had with the Fenix 7 lately, I thought I'd post something a bit more positive today.

My experience with the battery life on this watch has been absolutely insane. Absurd, even. I last charged it 6 days ago, last Tuesday morning. Right off the bat, I used quite bit of battery while I was going through all the settings, configuring my activities, etc, which took several hours and drained the battery down to 95% by that evening. But it's now Monday morning the following week, 6 days later, I've used around 2 hours of multiband GNSS and used the flashlight countless times, and my battery is at 82% (showing 23 days remaining) - more than my 6X had on a full charge!

I cannot imagine any scenario where I could ever possibly have to worry about the battery dying. And for that reason, I know I definitely picked the right watch for me. Looking forward to a summer of adventure with this watch! Hopefully the firmware stability issues get worked out before then ;)

  • That’s really nice! Did your watch receive some sunlight in this time? Smartphone notifications? Right now I am at 75% after four days in which I had three hours of multi band GNSS, one hour indoor cardio, many buzzes because of notifications and lots of tinkering around and using flashlight. Almost no sunlight. So a little less efficient than yours. Hopefully it’ll improve over the next few weeks!

  • Good questions! It didn't receive much solar - the widget says I averaged 21k lux hours per day. Some days I had as much as 50k lux hours, but others I only had like 10k.

Yes, smartphone notifications are turned on (vibrate only), and I probably get about 20 notifications a day.

Your battery life sounds about right - it sounds like you used a bit more GPS than I did, and probably got less sunlight to offset it.

  • Thanks for the info! Yeah my battery seems alright now that I think about it. I played with the maps a lot and I use touch a lot as well, which somehow activates the backlight, even though it is turned off in the settings. And I average at 40-60 notifications a day, so a bit more buzzing. Anyway, coming from an Apple Watch 7 (sold it after three months… I missed Garmin), this is one heck of an improvement in almost every way.

  • Finding exactly the same regards the battery. Absolutely crazy.

  • There we have him again. How many watches you have changed al the way? And how is it going with your real long hikes?

  • Hello, is your heart rate sensor activated continuously?

    And the oxygen measurement too?

    Thanks for your feedback.

  • My heart rate sensor is on constantly.

Oxygen sensor is only on when I trigger it manually, which is a few times a week at most.

    Same

  • My first week was adjustment , ended up with 8 days after setting up. I was on battery downloading Spotify etc. around 9 hours of running for 91 kms , with stryd foot pod and vibrating power setting. Gps is all system , smart recording. I use the red led blink when i run pass sundown.  I have battery saver on when I sleep with spo2 and ohr working. Spo2 only at night , notifications are beep only with calls vibration.

Now on week 2 and at 6 days in im at 61%. Less fiddling haha and also I turned of vibrate with my stryd app (not sure if it’s a big impact but it’s less stress for me )  Looking at 12 to 13 days before recharging with my use.  I don’t get much Solar, only once per week at around 76 to 100k.
