Fastest way to dismiss a notification ? (and a feature request to Garmin)

Hello everyone,

Does anyone know a faster way to dismiss ("mark as read") a notification (preferably using the touchscreen) than swiping left and selecting "dismiss" from the menu ? On the Vivoactive 4 you would simply swipe down on the notification and that was it, it felt very natural. On the Fenix 7 this doesn't seem to be working.

A note to Garmin: A "swipe down to dismiss notification" feature would be a great addition to the (admittedly very new) Fenix touchscreen UI. Swiping left or right is always more cumbersome, especially when an additional touch is needed afterwards. Since people can only wear one smartwatch at a time, notification handling is just as important as the sports-related features :)

Put your palm on the screen will force it back to the home screen.

Nice trick :) But I was referring to dismissing a notification as in "marking it as read". This gesture will not dismiss the notification, it will remain unread on the smartphone.

Just do a full swipe left and it’s dismisses the notification?

Sorry but this doesn't seem to be working. When a notification arrives and is displayed on screen, if you do a full-swipe left it is not dismissed but a menu appears.

Tap the notification to open it and swipe left to delete.

Not really, it opens the menu, but when my finger reaches the left side it closes again.

Ok now it worked, in the preview screen I can dismiss messages by swiping left, a red X appears.

In the actual message I can open the start button menu by swiping left, if I'm lucky.

Those full side swipes don't work that well for me.

Exactly. When the actual message just arrives and it's shown on screen, dismissing is quite cumbersome. If we could be able to just swipe down to dismiss, like on the Vivoactive 4 (and probably Venu 2 too), it would be great.

But up and down is for scrolling through the message. I guess at the and the last swipe up could open an symbol for dismissal, similar as in the preview with left swipes. Then you can still abort or continue to dismiss it.

Exactly. Actually on the VA4 if you try to swipe down (so to scroll up) and the message is at the beginning, the message is automatically dismissed but also a symbol appears in the process so you know what will happen. Works flawlessly :)
