wearing titanium bracelet all the time

Just wondering if there are folks who are using titanium bracelet only. and if yes - how is the heart rate sensor accuracy? Do you have to have it tight enough to get the good readings? I used to wear hybrid titanium+silicone bracelet with my Fenix Chronos and it was ok. but that bracelet was a bit stretchy..

  • I wear my titanium all the time, a Fenix 6. If you're lucky you can get just about the right length on the bracelet so the watch is just tight enough to feel good and not bounce around

  • Wear my Ti 7 Solar Sapphire all the time .... Seems / feels spot on. Actually, that's not true - wear it all the time bar tennis when I use the rubber strap purely because I prefer the less obvious feel of the rubber

  • I've quite a few titanium bracelets after buying steel which messed with my compass... I wear titanium nearly all the time..(sometimes the chestnut leather garmin strap) .. I use it for my hiking activities too.. but not running as it may be a bit loose for that, as Iike a comfortable fit and my hr might be compromised because of the slack... If I change back to rubber for running or visa versa, then I need to always calibrate my compass again too.

  • I don't wear my Garmin titanium bracelet all the time, since it's expensive and I want to keep it looking nice :) but when I do wear it, it doesn't seem to have any issues with HR or anything else. The main potential issue is that there's not a lot of adjustability in it, you can only set the size in about 1cm increments and, once you do, it's pretty much set in stone no matter how much your wrist might swell throughout the day, unless you feel like getting out a mini screwdriver and adding/removing links frequently. Fortunately for me, I was able to set mine to a length that fits right in between the sizes I need for exercise (tight) and relaxing (loose). But others might struggle to find that sweet spot.

And of course, as you can imagine, there is zero "stretch" to it, unlike all the various soft bands (leather, nylon, silicone). Again, for myself this isn't an issue, but I can see it being an issue for some people.

  • i believe you can do more precise setting not just 1 cm.. there are few holes on the bracelet lock that serve this purpose - micro adjustments..

  • That’s true. Adjustments are possible with 1/4 of a cm.

  • Huh, you're right! I didn't even notice that. Thanks!

  • yep. i used to wear hybrid ti-silicone bracelet for Fenix Chronos and that one was really un-adjustable.. the vented ti one is typical watch bracelet that allows the micro adjustments :)

  • For low HR readings up to 120bpm is ok, for cycling is a no for me. For other kind of training I didn't try.
I'm using the nylon ultrafit when exercising. Absolute joy for sports without any metal part.
