one per customer

After the initial release I had read on the various Garmin subreddits (/r/garmin, /r/garminwatches, /r/garminfenix) that people were ordering 2 watches at the same time to compare sizes or compare Fenix vs Epix and plan on returning one after they've made up their mind.  I'm fine with that until I have to wait 2 months to get my one of them.  Is Garmin limiting these window shopper orders to just one?

  • another one (later mentions they didn't technically "buy" both yet because they're returning the one they don't like.)  Actually 3 people talking about doing it (search for return in the page)

    basically google inurl:garmin site:reddit.com "return"

I'm all for the ability to do this but with low/no inventories anywhere due to covid supply chain problems, the Chinese New Year likely stalling anything getting made... try-and-return is a practice that goes against society when you can't get things as is.

I mean, I would like to try these things on or see one physically and see what I like better but the Best Buy near me has like 4 Garmin watches to their name right now- let alone a Fenix.

I wish the Garmin website also had pixel perfect - actual size pictures or stencils (example from f5 online manual of a stencil) so I can cut them out and look at them on my wrist or have a hand model try wear each one in the same spot to see how they compare.  At best, I see reviewers strap 3 sizes up and down the same arm which does not make them look different sizes.

It also frustrated me seeing so many gripes about screens and whatnot.  I dunno.  It feels like a situation right now where some manufacturers should put 1 per person limits on new items and put a restocking fee on returns from people who buy more than one variant (f7/f7s/f7x/Epix).  My sister will order a bunch of shoes to try on and return all of them.  That's a wasteful practice right now.
