How is the Open Water Swim GPS

I was having GPS issues with OWS with my F6. Prior to the F6 (F5, F3, 910, etc) I had no issues. Something changed marginally with the F6 forcing me to wear the watch on my right hand, etc probably due to minor variations in my Right/Left hand stroke. Is there anyone that had similar issues with the F6 (not talking about *** strokes, etc) while swimming a relative normal free style that had issues with the F6 that can chime in with how the Epix (or F7) OWS is doing. I was getting straight line on the course map indicating no GPS signal for lengthy durations. I will not be OWS for a few more months and hoping that the new GPS chipset and or the mulit-band will resolve this issue.

Third successive comparison swim with F6, F7, Epix, and Instinct 2. This time the Epix was 'running' in the swim bag and recorded the longest distance - 2.46km. The Instinct and F6 were a mere 24m apart…

Just did a quick test using open water swim activity and run activity for the same course: open water activity reports about 20% less distance. I think that's the same algorithm.

oh that's disappointing, is the course a straight line, indicating no gps signal? what gps settings?

The OWS is fine. Multiband plus all systems, 1 second recording

It was a straight line, GPS settings was all systems + multiband.

I would expect yours to be fine since you had no issues with the f6. I was hoping those of us that had the ows issue with the f6, that it would be better with the f7, epix. I guess I'll have to wait a few months and see how it will work for me

I think I prefer the F6. It records slightly further so I appear to be swimming faster than my usual sloth like pace. The F7 and Epix are only 7m apart wile the F6 recorded a whopping 70m further!

Meanwhile an Instinct 'running' in the swim bag recorded 2.43km. I'm not confident that recorded very well when you look at the Pace chart. I stopped only briefly at the first buoy but this looks like I stopped a bit more frequently

Another swim this morning along the same course as yesterday. Sucker that I am I got hold of an Instinct 2 for fits and giggles. Popped the Epix in the swim bag on OWS with the other watches on arms and wrists. Again F7 and Epix within cooee of each other even if one was in the swim bag, and the F6 and Instinct 2 were very close to each other but both longer than the other two by around 100m.

The Instinct and F6 were a mere 24m apart while the F7 was the shortest distance at 2371m. Overall a massive 70m distance between the Epix (running in the bag) and the F7 on OWS.

About 10 inches of ice here or 25 centimeters so I'll have to wait but the pool swim works fine. Seems to be more accurate on the calories swimming.

Currently GPS recording always stops after 50 to 100m but the recorded distance is correct

Settings for today was Multiband plus allsystems but still intelligent recording - 1000m distance recorded but only 50 to 100m GPS coordinates inside the fit file - how does the f7x knows this 1000m distance?

Wearing a HRM-Pro during the session

Also all strokes are recorded / heart rate as well

Normally I swim with *** stroke and try to turn the hand outside the water as often as possible

My fenix 5x was very much better with only GPS+Galileo and intelligent GPS recording

Do you think 1 second recording will do the trick to have more GPS coordinates?
