Running workout target pace

Hy!

I've switched from Fenix 6X Sapphire to Fenix 7X SS and something has changed during the structured running workouts.
On the 6X when I've set pace target between 3:45-3:50/km then I was able to see my accurate pace in seconds, like 3:46, 3:47, etc...

Now on the Fenix 7X it's jumping between 3:45 and 3:50 like there it's rounded to 0 or 5 and there is no 3:46/3:47/3:48/3:49.

Did someone else noticed this? I don't think it should work like this, but I don't know that this is a standalone issue or a common bug.

  • There was discussion about this many moons ago, I think as far back as the 945. The consensus then IIRC was that the 5s intervals was much more practical. However, a consensus doesn't mean that everyone agrees of course.

  • Okay, so this is a "feature". Sorry I didn't know that.
I prefer the previous method, but I can accept that if everyone likes this way better.

  • Pace is shown with 5-second precision when viewing instant pace. For average pace it's 1-second precision. During workouts with pace target, the F6 showed average workout step pace, while the F7 shows instant pace. Hence the difference.

  • Yes, thank you I understand now... it's just annoying if I have to run in a 5 second range, I don't know if im pushing to much or im on the slower end... its just jumping between 0 and 5. :D

  • Does anyone knows if it is possible to show average pace on the structured workout screen instead of instant pace on F7 ?

  • That would be great, however I didn't find option for that. :(

Now I've created a datasceen with datafield: AVG LAP Tempo, AVG Tempo, Current Tempo, Lap distance.

There will be no remaining distance/time field or low/high pace indicator, but I hope it will work better than the workout datasceen with it's 5 sec precision.... Rolling eyes

  • F6 har in the structured workout screen showing AVG LAP Tempo, so you would know if you were in the right level. The datafield you describe do not show the workout AVG tempo goal.

  • Yes I know... I've started this topic, because i've had a Fenix 6X Sapphire and the new Fenix 7X Sapphire Solar doesn't work that way... pretty anoying!

I don't care much about a tempo goal, because I know my workout and how fast do I have to run, I just wan't to see the accurate pace, not jumping between 0-5 sec.

Last sunday I had to run 3:45 / km pace for 6x1000m and than 5000m, but at the end I've got 3:42-3:43 everywhere... despite the workout screen showed that i'm spot on 3:45. And it can show only 3:50/3:45/3:40 there are no intermediate states.

  • Did you ever resolve this? I just switched from a 6 Sapphire to an Epix Pro G2 and seemingly have the same issue. Pace jumps 5 seconds at a time and seemily shows instant pace instead of average pace

  • Did you ever find a solution to this?
