Change the bluetooth device name

I have a fenix 7 and use Bose sport earbuds. When the earbuds try to pair, they are looking for a device named "REDPINE_GATT_V02" which takes forever because each single character is spelled because it is uppercase. With my Forerunner 945 it was only "watch". I couldn't find any place to change this. This is not the "nickname" I gave my watch in Garmin Express / Connect. I searched several FIT-files on the watch for this text but couldn't find it. I can't change this name in the Bose App neither. I think this is the bluetooth broadcast name of my watch. On a PC I would change it in the bluetooth settings but I don't know where to change it for my fenix 7.

Hey Chris, you might try to change nickname in your Garmin Express profile.

I changed the nickname aready. Didn't help.

I've noticed the same long ID when connecting to my Bose Sports as compared to my old f6 and 945 "Watch". Beyond the long announcement during connection, I haven't noticed any other issues with function.

This is confusing to me. Are you trying to connect the headphones to your watch? If so, what is the watch showing? Not sure how your phone is involved in this transaction.

Put headphones in pairing mode, go to <add headphones> on the watch and see what it finds <add>.

Same issue here, my headphone spelling out the super-long name characcter-by-character every time I connect them is very annoying, I wish there was a way to change the name of the watch

The phone is not involved. I put the earbuds in my ears and then, after telling me the battery state, they try to connect to my watch. They say "Connecting to R-E-D-P-I-N-E-G-A-T-T-V-0-2" and they do this 3 times. With my Forerunner 945 they simply said "Connecting to watch" and because "watch" was in lower case, the earbuds pronounced it as one word whereas for REDPINE_GATT_V02 they spell each single (uppercase) character. The screenshot is from my Bose-App on the phone where you can see the name "REDPINE_GATT_V02". I can't change it there nor elsewhere. I gave my fenix 7 a completely different name in Garmin Express.
I just found this PDF document (https://www.silabs.com/documents/login/application-notes/BLE-Application-Notes.pdf) where REDPINE_GATT_V02 is mentioned. Maybe my fenix 7 is using a silicon labs BLE chip...

And same situation here. My Bose SoundSport headphones register the watch as "REDPINE_GATT_V02".

It is a system name, I hope Garmin would release an update with a proper name there. "Fenix 7" or good old "Watch" work way better than "R-E-D-P-I-N-E-G-A-T-T-V-0-2"!
