battery life is AMAZING!!

Can I just take a minute to express how utterly amazing the battery life is on the Fenix 7 SS?!  I charged my watch to 100% on 1/21.  I generally do about 80-90 min of running outside, 5 days per week.  It is now 10 DAYS later and I am still sitting at 54%.  I have multi GNSS multi band turned on.  I maybe have gotten a little sunshine, but lets be real, I am in the midwest US in January.  This thing is going to be INSANE in the summer.  Fantastic work Garmin!

I hate how so many threads are just trashing Garmin watches, half the time it seems like from non-Garmin users.  I just wanted to put this out there for balance.

  • So far the battery life of the 7s SS doesn't look too bad either. I'm nowhere near you, having it charged on Friday. I certainly need to tweak a few setting here and there, but I'm sure I'll get close to 11 days in the end, probably around 9 or so with activities. Any suggestions what to chose? I've switched on battery saver at night with only sleep/HR tracking on. Not sure yet about the touch screen. Light on when living arm during workout is very convenient, but it probably eats up battery life. But yeah, I'm running in the dark.

  • I use:

-Fusion HM Pro watchface with a lot of weather and HR tracking

-touch screen enabled during regular watch mode, disabled during run

-i generally run only during daytime, so dont use backlight during activity at all

-full smart watch with notifications turned on

-i do sleep tracking with HR, no pulse ox

-i put it in low power watchface from 22:30-06:00 every day

  • Ah, not so dissimilar then. I don't care about notifications and smart watch stuff, so that's disabled. Other than that I only use a standard mostly static watchface. I hope, unless Garmin messed it up :D Yeah, and light only when I lift up my arm when running. I hope anyway.

If you do run after dark, try the cadence LED.  High cool factor.

  • He have a 7s. So no led flashlight on it ;)

  • My experience so far with the 7X SS has also been absolutely crazy, so far the longest I've gone without plugging it in and recharging it has only been 4 days (was doing map updates and such, so had to plug it in), but after those 4 days it was still showing 23 days of battery left, even after several hours of activity recording with multiband-gnss. I thought my 6X battery life was great, but the 7X SS so far is absurdly good.

  • First attempt with the 7s ss. Used multiband gps on 5 runs, all gps on a few walks of up to 5km. Otherwise just let it run it's course with battery saver enable at night, and no pulse oxi. I got 9.5 days out of it, but I spent several hours customizing the watch and recustomizing it (lots of light), doing the first 1hr run with light always on and then switching to on upon lifting up arm, and I might have been a bit too impatient with the first charging cycle.

  • UPDATE: I am now on day 18 and currently have 9% left with 1.3 days estimated remaining.  In addition to the normal smartwatch functionality and battery saver sleep mode, I have done 11 hours and 41 minutes of running with multi band multi GNSS turned on.  This with very little solar (we just had a huge snow storm).

Just absolutely amazing.  I plan to charge tomorrow morning, so almost 3 weeks of battery with lots of GPS usage.  Really excited to see how much the solar extends it during the summer!

  • Thanks for this post. I agree these watches are absolutely incredible and it's a shame so many people just seem to nitpick every possible little thing even if there is no good evidence. I couldn't be happier with my 7X SS.
