My backlight doesn't activate when set to "after sunset"?
Works fine when set to "on"
Same on both during activity and general settings
Does anyone else have this problem?

Battery Saver needs to be edited to record sleep. By default WHR is set to off. Alter the setting to Do Not Change. Provided WHR is active normally sleep will then be recorded.
No probs. I definitely does work when I manually turn on DND during the day, so there's no reason it shouldn't when DND is automatically activated by sleep mode. Good luck!
Interesting. Mine works as expected when set to "After sunset". Keep in mind there are General Use, During Activity and During Sleep settings. Make sure these are set as desired.
I do wish Garmin would had a "Touch" option for "During Sleep". I would like the Backlight Gesture set for after sunset but have it switch to "Touch" during my configured sleep period. Otherwise, it goes off while sleeping and is annoying.
Apologies - I thought you were referring to turning off the 'Touchscreen' option itself during sleep mode. That being said, there's a bug currently that always activates the backlight with touch (regardless of Gesture setting or time, etc). I suppose this would equate to 'Backlight with Touch' during sleep mode if you left the touch screen on?
jylong Basically I just want backlighting to come on after sunset via gesture and have this function deactivated once in sleep mode. It's a Garmin omission from where I stand. If you sleep with the watch on you do not want backlighting turning on every time your wrist moves. Touch would be fine.
Hmm...got a workaround for you.
1) Set Gesture backlight to 'After Sunset'
2) Activate sSleep Mode for sleep hours.
3) Leave Touchscreen on in Sleep Mode
4) Activate DND in Sleep Mode
5) Set Wrist Gestures to 'Off' in DND
Will deactivate all gestures, including Backlight, during Sleep.
Due to a current firmware bug (I suppose we can now call it a 'feature') Backlight will always activate with touch, no matter the time of day.
Hope this is what you're looking for?

Mine doesn't. It only turns on when I press a key during the night.
Settings. System. Backlight.
During Activity, Brightness 60%, Keys On, Alerts On, Wrist Gesture After Sunset, Timeout 8 Seconds.
General Use, Brightness 50%, Keys On, Wrist Gesture After Sunset, Timeout 8 second
During Sleep. Brightness 5%. Timeout 4 Seconds.
During sleep I have Battery Saver active and Backlight set to Turn Off.
So, it looks like there's a bit of incongruity here.
I'm going to set the Backlight setting in the Battery Saver to Don't Change and see what happens tonight!
@philipshambrook...that will likely work because you are putting it in Battery Saver Mode. I believe it also disables sleep metrics which is why I wear it sleeping. Really all I need is for the Sleep Mode -> Backlight option to have an Off, Touch or Wrist Gesture selection. It's really that simple.
