Hi All,
Could someone with a Fenix 7/7X and a 6/6X create a watch face with a picture using the Face It option in the Connect IQ app and post a shot of them side by side?
I know both these watches have MIPS display but according to the Connect Developer website

the colors supported has changed, so wondering if images and potentially maps appear better on the 7 Series?
Fenix 6 = 64 colors
Fenix 7 = 256 colors

I've got birdseye imagery on my 7X, just as I had it on my 6X before. The color depth is exactly the same. I hate to say it, but the 7 has 64 colors, not 256. It's an error in the garmin developer documentation…
I don't think it's simply a typo about writing 64 and 256.

In the CIQ developer forum, this was brought up and one of the Garmin team members did confirm this is a typo. The F7 series is only 64 colors.

I use maps from OpenTopoMap. Both of these watches display the same area. Both Fenix 5X and Fenix 6X Pro displayed the wood area as yellow with tiny faint tree symbols in it. Now, the Fenix 7X displays the wood area as green.
Fenix 7X has a processor with higher frequency and 2D GPU so that it's easier for it to support more colours. However, MIP technology is limited. I don't know if MIP display that can dislay more than 4096 colours is produced yet. Also even if the display supports, Connect IQ or every page may not be able to utilise all these colours. In SDK device configs both of these watches seem to have suport for 8 bits per pixel but 7X has support for ARGB2222 pixel format. I don't know about it.
It just seems 7 series support more colours.
