My Fenix 7S Solar Sapphire won’t pair with Connect

My new Fenix 7S Solar Sapphire won’t pair with Connect on any of my devices except for Garmin Express.

So far I tried all the troubleshooting pages such as removing the watch from my profile, factory reset, removing from Bluetooth devices and rebooting both the phone and watch.

The app does recognize my watch instantly and asks for the Bluetooth 6 digit Bluetooth key, but as soon as I try to pair it shows an error shown in the screenshot.

It seems my problem is similar to a problem in the early stages of the Fenix 6 Sapphire, somehow I can’t post the link of the topic here.

Anyone else experiencing this problem?

The firmware on my watch is 7.20

  • iOS? I find it eventually works when I disable blutooth and delete the blutooth connection for Connect on the phone, Then start again from scratch. At least that happened with every Garmin watch ever. I only receive the 7 later today and will find out.

  • I’m on iOS indeed. Unfortunately that doesn’t work either. Or do you mean by “eventually” you keep repeating these steps until it pairs?

I haven’t found a lot of issues regarding this topic, so I assume most watches don’t have this issue. Fingers crossed yours isn’t affected.

    Enjoy your new watch!

  • Hmm. so I had no problems at all. It just paired like a dream. Also no need to delete the blutooth connection. I just switched the old watch off and then went through the app = add new watch. That's unusual, and has never been so easy before. Sorry, can't help.

  • Somehow my watch says it’s on firmware version 7.20 while Garmin Express says it’s still on 6.57 with nu update available.

    Is this normal behavior?

  • Apparently my watch is on firmware 6.57 although the info in the ’about’ section says it’s on 7.20.

All the new sports/workouts introduced in 7.20 are not shown.

Can anyone help me download firmware 7.20?

  • Go to Settings, System, Software Update and see what's there. You might find the software is on your watch but not yet installed.

If that's not the case, try syncing with Garmin Express again.

Check Settings System About to see what version is actually on your watch.

Once you have 7.20 on the watch try re-pairing with GCM but ensure you remove the watch from Bluetooth in your phone OS before your start re-pairing from GCM.

  • Were you able to solve the problem?
  • Unfortunately not, I returned the watch and got a new one.

  • It works for me. Thanks.
