Audio Prompts During an Activity F7XSS

Hi there,

have some strange problems with new F7.

I dont get any Audio Prompts During an Activity from my phone. It only works if i pair my earbuds directly with the watch.
With Fenix6 it works without any problems. Ive Setting up anything correct i think. I have an iPhone 11.

The other annoying thing is the phone Connection alert. I want it off, but the watch set it to on every time again.

any advise? I reinstalled und repaired the App and Watch many times.

greetings

  • Did you check your Audio Prompt settings on the watch?  I did my first run with the F7XSS on Saturday with earbuds paired to the phone, and I got an audio alert for each mile split.

  • I did a hike with the defaults and got audio prompts every mile with my pace.  I also had turned on a timer alert for every 17 minutes and thought I had audio prompts turned on for timer alerts, but even though I got the 1 mile alerts via audio, all I got was the watch vibration for each timer alert. Near the end, I accidentally hit the lap button and got another audio prompt for the lap.

The next day I also turned on a milage alert for each mile.  Now I got no audio alerts, but just the watch vibration for both the milage and timer.

The Audio prompts indicate both are on.

I also noticed that things don't seem quite right when trying to add and remove alerts through GC on Android, so I was using the watch itself to make the changes.

    What am I doing wrong?

EDIT: Added to the first hike "Near the end, I accidentally hit the lap button and got another audio prompt for the lap."

  • You didn’t do something wrong the app is simple bugged. I resolved my problem with reinstalling the app and repairing the watch. I have also removed ALL garmin devices from app and Bluetooth settings Before. That fixed it for me. For others it doesn’t work for all. There are multiple threads out there in the forum and Facebook groups you’re not the only one

  • Today, I did another hike with the Milage Alert off.  I still did not get the "Lap" alert I got the first day.  But when I pressed the lap button, I did get an audio prompt for that button press.

  • Today, I did another hike after selecting the Restore to Defaults for the hike activity.  I then added my time alert, but no distance alert.  I was hoping the Restore to Defaults would restore the Audio prompts at each mile, but it did not.  I got a vibration for the time alerts, but nothing for the lap or distance and no audio prompts for anything.  Will wait for the next software update to try anything else.

  • Today, I was able to do another hike.  Prior to the hike I looked at the settings as I had a suspicion that me pressing the lap button on the first hike may have done something.  In the settings I found that Autolap had gotten turned off.  I turned autolap back on and made sure the distance was set to 1 mile.  During the hike, I got audio prompts from my phone at each lap/mile.

I still had the timer alert set and that happened every 17 minutes as it should on the watch, but nothing on the phone.

  • Today is the first time I connected Bluetooth audio.  I received all Audio Prompts just as the OP said.

  • I am having an issue with inconsistent Audio Prompts too. It all started the weekend where I got an Android 12 update, a Garmin Connect update and updated to 20.30 on my 6X Pro. Now that I have just switched to a 7X SS, I suspect it is either a Garmin Connect or Android 12 issue. I get audio prompts on some laps, some I don't. No fixed pattern I can notice.

  • Yesterday and today, no lap alert on the phone.  I checked all the settings, and they all look correct.  Fenix 7XSS, FW: 7.24, GC 4.51.1, Android 12 on Samsung 20 Ultra.

EDIT: Just added more info on watch and phone.

  • So you should get audio prompts if you have headphones connected to your phone, and not your watch?

I listen to whatever from my phone, and tried to have prompts on. No audio prompt sounded.
