Ya that pretty much sums up the differences.

Good arguments. I picked the Epix 2 because of how much smoother using the map is and due to the more capable hardware.

Comparing standby mode with always on screen, it's 6 days versus 37 days (on the 7X). So literally the Fenix has the battery life of the Epix, squared ;)
Do you prefer battery life or a fancy screen?
Epix hands down. Battery life should be enough to get through a 100 trail run, so it seems like a no brainer to me ...
Ya that pretty much sums up the differences.
Epix has gorgeous AMOLED screen, but also has the drawbacks that comes with having an AMOLED screen - worse battery life, and screen always-on mode kills the battery even worse, and potential for screen burn-in. It also has different viewability in sunlight (some say it's fine, some say it's worse than MIP, others even say it's better than MIP, you your mileage may vary).
Fenix 7 has exactly the same screen as Fenix 6. Identical. So at least you know what you're getting I guess, no surprises. Has exponentially better battery life, is always-on all the time with no catches, and is sunlight readable.
So it's unfortunately not as simple as saying one is better than the other. They both have substantial pros and cons.
Personally I picked Fenix because battery life is super important to me, I take my watch on multi-day outdoor adventures frequently. I want to be able to have EVERY feature turned on 24/7, have my map screen open for as long as I want, and have GPS set for the highest accuracy and most power-draining settings, without any concern that I might run out of battery. And I want an always-on display that can be seen without being backlit. So given those requirements, 7X Solar Sapphire was the clear winner for me.
But everyone has different needs, and Epix will be the better answer for a lot of people.
Epix for me...the AMOLED display is what i need and AOD too as i like to be able to see the hour/date whenever i want(without moving the wrist). At the end it's still a watch(and a nice one) and keeping it black for majority of time doesn't make sense for me(my personal opinion of course).
I'm with Venu 2 at the moment and i can live with 2 days battery life as i'm charging it daily during showers...but 6 days(even if it's 5 or 4 it's perfect for me) with all the features available is the watch for me for the next years.

I don't normally need super long battery life and, if out hiking, I can always use a powerbank for a quick top up.
Not bad compared to FENIX 7 and other brands.
I am really interested in how long it takes to charge the new epix.
I am more keen to get the epix over the fenix 7 as I now have a 6pro and have to agree, that unless you go for a 7 saphire, there is not much updgrade value from 6 to 7.
If the epix charges really quickly, I would be more incined to pull the trigger on that but I can't seem to find anywhere online how fast it charges.
plus, the saphire edition of the epix 2 is hard to get at the moment :-)I don't like the grey watches, prefer them black, seems like all black editions this time round are pricey...
anyone know how fast the epix charges?
Not sure I'd say battery life of F7 is exponentially better than the Epix - looks to me to be in the 2x to 3x range at most.
Ask dcr, he did a lot of testing
