F7X : Why did they add this Flashlight ?

Hi,

The Fenix 7X looks very promising with lot of improvement, hope this time GPS accuracy will be fine... But why did they add this plastic Flashlight that will impact the watch Toughness ? Il will scratch easily, flashlight can't be changed.... It looks like a transparent plastic on the the watch lug...

I would prefer not having this gadget... They made an effort with HR sensor making it enchassed in metal with the sensor itself made of glass and they add another weak part to the watch... Unbelievable...

You are not forced to buy it. I guess a lot of people will like it. Time will tell, if that part is a weak spot, but I don’t think so.

I got to be honest I was with you till I saw the usage for cadence (I run a lot in the dark) and the other uses.

In all fairness, the position of it above the lugs will protect it quite a bit

That's one of the reason I bought the watch, having an on-demand running light is a game changer for me.

I'm a bit curious to try it for cadence but I still seriously doubt that would like to run with a flashlight in watch, I carry a small keychain one, and it's more than enough to run in the night even off road and without other extrernal lights.

I purchased the Epix 2, wish it had it. Very handy thing to have! I run at night.

I've only had my 7X Solar Sapphire, in Carbon Gray DLC for a few hours but I am VERY excited about the flashlight feature and here's why:

1. As an avid outdoorsman (hiking, backpacking, mountaineering and cycling) I wear this watch constantly. To always have a REAL flashlight (not an app that turns the watch face white) this is a game changer for me!

2. It has several intensities PLUS a red light which is fantastic for maintaining night vision while needing to throw some light to find something my tent, backpack, etc. No more searching for my headlamp.

3. It's location is well protected and I have every expectation and confidence that Garmin has selected a strong cover material and seal. I am not in the least concerned about damage or leaking. I looked in this area on my 6X Pro Sapphire and there is not a single scratch or hint of any contact.

4. Appreciate how easy it is to turn it on. Double click of the light button. No having to get into menus and such.

5. This feature, to my knowledge, separates it from any similar watch on the market. I would like to see it and solar on my Garmin Mini too.
