It's not obvious when looking at the products on Garmin's website, but before you place an order, there are two important differences to know about Sapphire versus Non-sapphire.
- Sapphire models have 32 GB of storage, and pre-loaded with worldwide topoactive maps. Non-sapphire has 16GB, and only pre-loaded with the topoactive maps for your region (you can download more onto it, but I'm not sure if additional ones are free or not)
- Sapphire models have MultiBAND Multi-GNSS. Non-sapphire models have single-band multi-GNSS.
So, anyone who is "on the fence" about getting sapphire, you should be aware that buying the Sapphire upgrade gets you a lot more than just the lens.
