  • same here, it happens since version 15.20, it happens only after I save activity. Watch reboots, and some data is lost, like training load is not saved for that activity. It happens occasionally, not very often.

  • After installing in my watch this beta and a few days of observations, I can confirm that my battery is draining at higher rate than expected. It's doing about 0.6% - 0.7%. I have even reported less percentage battery drain to Garmin however this percentage has increased in the last two days for me as I indicated.

Has anyone else experienced this battery drain rate with this beta?

How can we evidence these results to Garmin?

Read the very first post of this thread, the information you desire is there.

Which Connect IQ widget are you using to measure battery drain?

  • Installed 16.70 about 5 days ago. New Fenix 6 Pro bought a couple of months ago. Everything seems better than 16.60. Battery doesn’t seem to be getting hammered as much. Once installed everything when using the watch seems a bit quicker and smoother. Used hiking at the weekend and used a gpx course. All day on a 9 Mile mountain hike using the TalkyToaster maps. No hiccups. Still had 9 days battery from full charge after this full day on GPS. 16.60 was at about 8 days battery left from full charge after a very similar route the weekend before so battery definitely seems to have improved a biit. So far so good. Not experienced any reboots or crashes at all. Watch was bought new in April and came with 15.20 pre-installed.

  • I'm not using any widget as I think is better to don't add another thing which can influence in the battery drain and it's just by checking and writing down the battery percentage at certain times during the day for a few days. I know is quite rudimentary however is still valid when the watch is in watch mode only.

  • Do you recommend any widget in particular?

    Thanks

  • I use minimal widgets too. I’m mainly into the mountains and hills so I have a couple of IQ store widgets and apps for grid references and weather and that’s about it. Im new to Garmin watches but I’ve worked in IT for years and have picked up on a lot of people saying widget/ app quality of coding affecting battery life if they aren’t too good. Might be something in it as to poorly coded, 3rd party IQ store content not helping battery life. Some of the complex watch faces seem to be known to thrash battery life, as do some of the apps that make use of web connection or GPS a lot.

  • What do you mean with the very first post? If you mean to send an email to Garmin, I already did. What I am looking for is if there is a tool or something, as for example, to be able to access to log files whereby can show the battery percentages or another kind of useful information that Garmin might need to find out what is causing a higher battery drain in my watch and not in other watches. Not sure if I explained myself correctly GrinRolling eyes

  • In true beta firmware releases Garmin includes a battery usage widget which appears to generate log files. But in release candidate beta firmware and release firmware this widget is unfortunately removed by Garmin.

Because my fēnix 6X can easily last over a week and I am in the routine of charging it every Sunday, I have not installed any battery widget on it.

On my fēnix 5+ I have Battery Gauge (by torsteinvh) installed. Before that I had Battery Widget with automatic charge detection (by dsapptech) installed.
