EU maps on US bought 5X?

I'm based in the EU but travel to the US frequently so I'm thinking of picking up a 5X whilst there. Will I be able to erase the US topo maps, and load the Garmin EU maps. I'm assuming the devices are identical aside from the maps. Thanks

I actually ended up getting a 5X APAC version and can confirm that the pre-installed maps are not particularly good. OSM are significantly better
