Inaccurate lactate threshold results - "Improved" Lactate Threshold Measurement Feature 19.41

With last software update 19.41 Garmin changed the thershold calculation  https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=bslU8erVhw62Xil6ptnEE6

and now is automatic done by the watch using the : VO2 Max estimate, GPS info and optical heart rate sensor on the watch or band if connected.

the data now look more inaccurate with big variation between them, do yoiu have same problem?

with the same update they removed also the possibility to perform the test in the proper way like in the past, they removed the Lactate Threshold Guided Test function that was really useful for me, do you have same problem?

Thanks

  • This is why I never use auto max HR detection. That part is also easy to fix, just disable it. I have had it disabled since it was new on Garmins devices since many years ago. I know my approx maximum (running) HR anyway and this does not replace a real maximum HR test.

The running LTHR is much more difficult to fix myself because you can’t adjust the tempo, only HR value. The algoritm is broken :-(

  • Hi Wirran, not really, with the latest updates the values have returned a bit to the previous values, but the automatic functions work very few times compared to the original situation and now there is no longer the possibility of using the Lactate Threshold Guided Test, it is an annoying situation...

When they announced the new Connect+ app, I immediately thought that in the new paid subscription they will probably give the possibility for the Lactate Threshold Guided Test  Triumph . It was so practical.

    We will see.

  • It’s always the best to enter your maximum heart rate manually. LTHR is much more important to let the watch measure and calculate.

I have not cared at all to turn LTHR detection on again. This made me stop to care about it at all, very bad.

Right now And during the whole spring my HRM-PRO+ is also giving strange pulse values. Maybe there’s something wrong with me. I don’t know
