v9.36 Official Software Fast Battery Drain

I'm going through the battery in 24-48 hours. No apps or fields installed. No GPS activities. Also having sync issues where I have to kill the connect app on Android to get it to sync. I had the same issues on beta now it persists into the production release

  • Anyway I just confirm the return to a excellent drain at 0.25%/hour which means 14 days in Gesture Only
WHEN the PLANE MODE is ON.
14 days as my watch is now at 84%. It means 16 days full in projection by Battery Graph. like Garmin projection.

So BlueTooth could really be the culprit of the Drain.

I have communicate that to Chris (knowing it is the week end though).

  • Right after I recorded my first activity after the full reset, I started seeing an increase in the battery drain.

So indeed the culprit could be the syncing to phone via Bluetooth.

Unfortunately stopping the Bluetooth connection to the phone also kills all the "smartwatch" functionalities.

  • Temporary solution when battery is needed.

  • Also having drain issues. Killed the stock glance and testing. Instead of 2 weeks it seems I'm getting closer to 1 week. Is the GPS tuning working hard? (New feature)

My watch is set to not always on screen. And using night mode 11pm to 7.30 am (23.00-07.30)

    I don't have beta software.

  • the smart watch become pretty stupid without BT....

  • Because he just wants a refund.....

@7525086 I'm pretty sure that battery drain due to a software bug has nothing to do with warranty claims. Especially because it is fixable

  • Thank God I've disabled auto-update of firmware.  This is a disaster.

  • the smart watch become pretty stupid without BT....

Not agree with you. This is a Garmin. Cartography, GPS and ABC do not need any connection.
This is not an Apple Watch !!

But this is a temporary solution for getting normal battery life not something to apply without the drain issue.

  • EPIX 2.

After using 9.33 since beta, I have had no battery problem until last 2 days in a row.

Friday - battery was about 85% in the morning, but somehow it drained to 12% during the day, and I got low battery warning. This was with screen always on - gesture off. Did one running activity in the morning with GPS.

Saturday, in the evening - took the watch of for the night. This was with screen off and gesture on. After 10 hours it drained from around 80 to 1% in today morning just by not wearing the watch. Flight mode was active from saturday afternoon, and was also active until watch finally had 0% and switched off.

Something is definitely wrong, a guess some internal process getting stuck on.

  • As described in my other post today, flight mode was on/active - watch still completely drained last night from 80% to 1% overnight.

So I do not think BT or WIFI is the issue.
