v9.36 Official Software Fast Battery Drain

I'm going through the battery in 24-48 hours. No apps or fields installed. No GPS activities. Also having sync issues where I have to kill the connect app on Android to get it to sync. I had the same issues on beta now it persists into the production release

  • I don't get the drama of certain users like RickM, NemoSandman etc. It's not like Garmin forced you to buy an Epix or Fenix. Nor is Garmin forcing you to be on the latest software version. When the new version came out, I checked here first to see if there are any issues with it and then just disabled "auto update" on the Epix. Once the issue is fixed, I will update. Done, problem solved.

  • Well I finally got the update 4h ago and so far no problem with battery drain at all.

  • Thanks Ralph, just did that now

  • It's about trust, and brand reliability.

So if you don't get it, you should perhaps thanks all the people like us, alpha and beta testers who are reporting issues in the first place because we are testing the water before you.
We are the first to test. We don't have the luxury of drama ! But when we report issue which are not follow with effect/answer/acknowledgement we are then asking why Garmin proposed us to test the Beta in the first place !
Thanks to us, once the issue we have reported will be fixed, you will safely update like you said ?
Eventually we are the first step to your problem solved and you don't get it.......... LOL !!

Let's all get along and stick with helping. Thank you.

  • Same experience for me, thus far.  I hope the success continues!!!

  • There is a thing called duty of care! Releasing faulty updates when it was called out by alpha and beta testers means that there is product liability and misrepresentation issues.

  • Didn't fix anything

  • If your fast battery drain is unrelated to using Strava or Garmin segments, please try all 3 of the following troubleshooting steps on your watch:

    1) Restart your watch.

    2) Hard resetting it by holding down your top left button until it shuts off.

    3) Reset Your Watch: through the System > Reset > Reset Default Settings.

If you continue to experience the fast battery drain, please reach out to Outdoor Product Support in your region.

  • Already performed above and monitoring.

On my Fenix 6S that meant multiple hardware replacement without any resolution. Check out the forum under Fenix 6 battery issues.

How about fixing the firmware. Root cause analysis!
