Seeing lower GPS accuracy in the first few minutes of activities since 8.21

I have had an Epix 2 since launch and have been thoroughly impressed with its GPS accuracy- which I used to complain about across multiple prior Garmin devices I had.

I always wait for a few minutes after GPS signal has been acquired and consistently get excellent results post run.

This changed since the betas leading up to, and including, the current firmware ie 8.21. An easy way to spot this is to compare the first couple of laps to the rest.

I use every second recording with all+multiband; I am also sending this message to Support. Anyone else seeing this?

That is a huge difference. No chance you have changed the GPS settings in a power mode used for that activity? I've done that mistake myself, testing out different settings using a power mode and then forgot to change back to the standard power mode...

Nope, exactly the same settings I always use. It is a massive bummer that I am unable to downgrade.

Off to Indonesia/Bali on Saturday for two weeks and would have strongly GPS accuracy I am now used to.

For me the gps was more accurate with the older firmware. Was comparing the tracks and can see that with the older version the track was more precise. So not only the beginning.

Didn't notice big changes...and trees are covering a lot more than 2 months ago.

And more importantly...i still have the same error that i had 2 months ago in the below place(be it the gps in that area or the sat image but i have the same route as 2 months ago)

Not seeing any real difference. These two tracks are today and 31 March. I've looked at others and this is probably the worst I can find. The track goes under the bridge too so that's handled well.

I can't really comment on the beginning as I never start from exactly the same spot, and the road crossing depends on traffic but here's the start of these two tracks

Hmm. Definitely something awry. You know you can directly compare the two activities in GC? Select them both from the All Activities list and you'll see an option to Compare x of n. Great way to look at similar activities. This was how the tracks posted above were compared.

Seems like it is back to normal now. No settings were changed.

I’m getting some wonky tracks in the first minute or so of most runs at the moment. Running 8.21, with multi-band. Seems to clean up reasonably quickly, but the first 100m or so can have a lot of zig-zagging and reverse-tracking, which I didn’t do. I’ve waited two minutes after getting signals before starting, and still have the issues. Just mentioning it here in case anyone else is still seeing this.
