Health Snapshoot getting worse with time

Hi there

Health Snapshoot, worked perfectly fine for the first week, SpO2, HRV, breathing, etc. ALL tests worked fine

Then a couple of days ago, HRV did not record anything even though I tried a couple of times in a row.

Today SpO2 stop recording!!!

What the hell is going on with Garmin!!??? Did not change anything on the watch!!!

Even with the firmware 8.13 doesn't work

Seriously Garmin?

Issues with Index S2, issues with Epix 2

I Spent 1650$$ and all that I got is issues, subpar products... a 100 watch works much better that a 1400$ watch, and a 40$ scale works much much better that 220$ Garmin scale

EXTREMELY DISSAPOINTED

  • Your reply to me was pretty rude. I was explaining to you how beta firmware works because not everyone understands and they do it anyway.  Your initial post didn't clearly say that you had this problem with the stable firmware.

  • Respectfully, people participate in this forum from all over the world and with varying levels of experience with English. Even for a native speaker, you are relying on someone noticing that you added the word “even” before the beta version number to indicate that you had this problem before the beta which people may not pick up on.

If you just came to complain and find others to share your frustration with, that’s fine. But to be rude to someone who is trying to help makes it that people don’t want to take the time to help in the future.

That said, I have only used the Health Snapshot twice personally - with the original released software (7.20?) and now with the beta 8.14. It was able to measure the HRV with the released firmware for me, but no HRV reading today with the beta. If you haven’t reported it to the email address in the beta post, I suggest you do so.

  • Eric, did you read her answer?

Was it me ... or she start her post with

"...Well, you are complaining about your watch that you chose to install BETA firmware on."

I get frustrated with people that don't read the details and just make useless comments

  • Did you contact Garmin directly? As others have mentioned i don't see HRV anymore but i'm on the beta firmware.

SpO2 is working fine while sitting or lying in bed.

Index S2 is a real disappointment...the only benefit is that it's synchronizing with Garmin's account automatically but i don't trust any value except for the weight.

  • Well I am not getting paid anything from Garmin (wish I were - not even a discount). Still on official version, do a health snapshot every morning. Occasionally as I have pointed out I have to take 2 recordings as the first doesn't generate any HRV, but it always does it on the second. I have a list of HRV recordings going back 2 weeks now for every day, all with a HRV score.

  • I'm not sure I'd describe my experience as "getting worse", but it certainly hasn't been great.  My Venu 2 gave me an HRV value almost every try, but with this new EPIX2, it almost always takes me a second attempt to get *any* HRV value.  I do it in bed laying still, with the wrist strap no more loose nor tight than I've ever needed before, and the stress reported during that period is generally very low.  I seriously doubt user error; the watch simply isn't happy about something.

  • I've to say that I'm quite happy with my results. PulseOx is on par with my medical grade fingertip device (miles ahead of my Fenix 6 in that regard) and the HRV values are always displayed (and they line up with my Polar and Fitbit devices). I do tighten the strap before starting a health snapshot, though. That has helped me get more accurate results in the past.

OP seems like a very eloquent person btw. A real pleasure to sift through. Smirk

  • Eight hours ago, I posted to this topic with my increasing frustration with the frequent absence of HRV on Health Snapshots (that post just deleted moments ago).  Seven hours ago, or thereabouts, firmware 8.18 installed on my EPIX2.   I have gotten HRV values on every Health Snapshot I've attempted since that time.  Also, the screen now seems to remain lit for the 2-minute duration of the test, and the watch vibrates/beeps when the test results are visible.  Can't be sure the value I now see makes sense, but my stress is high as a result of an ultramarathon I finished yesterday, so wild and scary values have to be considered reasonable for the next day or so.  Thus far, I"d have to say "Garmin, ya did good".
