I'm on 7.2 and after a period of not moving my wrist, the display turns completely off (this is after the expected dimming) even though I have Always On selected. I hope this is a bug and not one of the ways it gets the 6 days of battery life.

Updated October 18th, 2022:
If your display was turning off despite your settings, the v9.37 software update has fixed the issue.
This picture will help and the Support Center article…
Thanks, Chris. Yes, that does help but given those specifications there isn’t really an option for a display that is always on so “Always on Display” is misleading (and now it makes sense how Epix is able…
I hope the 7 works out better for you. I’ll never be able to go back to that muted screen after having the Epix for a week.
To reiterate my experience, AOD on, gestures off, and I literally never…
I have just upgraded to 8.15 beta due to multiple other issues. Multiple swims showing 0 length, multiple workouts showing prior full distance but 0 lap distance within history, however they upload correctly.
Please be sure to email the Beta engineering team. Given your experience, the Beta is causing your AOD issue. Regarding the swim distance issue, the Beta partially addresses it but not 100% resolves it. An official update that fully resolves the issue is coming soon. I will update the main Epix 2 swim distance thread when the software is released.
Be sure to try power cycling (rebooting, not resetting) the watch. That fixed it for many people and me.
v.9.36
AOD seems to now have a dimming mode (thankfully), but at some point this morning it stopped working and would just turn off the display. I spent ~2hrs trying every setting (in the interminable menus and submenus and getting confused between "settings" and "toggles for those setting"… and anyways finally got to this thread.
The solution? Reboot the watch.
AOD dimming on wrist working again. yay.
I am sorry there is an issue. If your Epix 2 display is set to On but instead of dimming at your timeout set it is instead fully shutting off completely, it might be able to be resolved.
Please try the following:
- Hard Reset: Long hold your top left button until your watch shuts off then let go of the button
- Reset: Reset your watch to defaults in your System > Reset menu.
If your issue continues, please reach out to Outdoor Product Support in your region.
Thanks Chris. That's the solution I mentioned in my post. I can confirm it works.
