The venu x1 has just been released, I hope garmin has the good sense to release this form factor and screen size for the next descent model.
It's fabulous

To each their own. While I do agree that the round shape is a remnant of the analogue watch era, for many of us that's exactly the appeal. I like to wear something that looks and functions like a time…
If you want bigger screen, get the X50i.
This doesn’t make much sense.
If that would have worked for him, why would he be asking about a X1?
The X50i is
Ratio do idive watch, it is thick at 15mm but it doesn't have the bezel or ugly shape/design of garmin, and its rated for 150m!
?
So maybe its depth rating, but recreational…
Ratio dive watches look cleaner and simpler, similar to venu 1 and 2
Maybe with new batteries and microled this will change.
The weird thing is as dive computer the mk3i is not small if all you do is dive with it, the issue is for everyday use its too big imo

Ahh.
<Removed irrelevant comment. He clarified what he meant below.>
That's on you. Next time, provide a link so people have a fighting-chance to know what the heck you are talking about.
Not a brand I was aware of.
It's not something many people are going to want to wear every day. (It's kind of unaesthetic.)
It never occurred to me there would be a watch brand called Ratio
Look up "Ratio dive watches". (And what I had to work with what "Ratio do idive watch".)
You were really talking about "Ratio dive computers".
(Always provide a link.)
In any case, it's round. So, it really doesn't match what you are looking for either.
(I think this is better looking: https://shearwater.com/products/teric )

I think we have to assume that Garmin knows something about selling watches. So, it might make sense to produce the Mk3 as it is even if it isn't what one personally prefers.

I don't think it looks that much cleaner than the F8. The F8, whatever it looks like, appears to be very popular.
Maybe with new batteries and microled this will change.
What new batteries? I suspect a newer F8 will have the same sizes as the current ones. That is, Garmin won't make them smaller with any likely improvement in battery life.

I said before that the Mk3 isn't too small as a diver computer. It's really too large for everyday where but that's another compromise.
Silicone anode batteries, greater energy density than Li ion
You won't see them in the successor to the F8. It might even be longer than even that.
And Garmin is fairly likely to keep the same size. (The battery life of the current 47mm F8 is kind of weak.)
(My rule about battery tech is that it's irrelevant until people actually start using it.)
Supposedly, the AMOLED screens provide more room for a bit bigger battery.
To each their own. While I do agree that the round shape is a remnant of the analogue watch era, for many of us that's exactly the appeal. I like to wear something that looks and functions like a time piece while being a smartwatch under the hood. That's why I'm running with an analogue AOD 24/7.
In a sanitized environment, as far as diving goes the X50i is superior. The whole market for the mk3i is the fact that it looks like a regular watch. A device I can use as my watch, as my smartwatch for my outdoor activities and everything else, AND a technical dive computer on top of everything. For me it's perfect. I hate wearing a square shaped watch on my every day life. It just looks awkward and out of place in my personal opinion.
