Dives disappeared in dive log on watch

When I upgraded from Descent Mk2i to Mk3i all dives were copied from the dive log on Mk2i to the dive log on Mk3i.

Then I did a couple of dives with the Mk3i and the dives were added to the log on the watch. But now suddenly (could have been after the system update) the two newest dives I did with the Mk3i are not in the log on the Mk3i anymore. All the old dives done with Mk2i are still there in the Mk3i dive log.

In the Garmin Dive app all dives are there in the log. Both the old ones from Mk2i and the two new dives done with Mk3i.

Is there any way to have the missing two missing dives on the Mk3i watch transferred to the Mk3i dive log from the Dive app again…?

  • Managed to get it back. I can explain if someone has the same problem…

  • I don't, but why don't you just explain, then someone finding this maybe even years ago, don't need to think what did he find out.

It's just PIA to search answers to problems to just find someone who had the problem and figured it out, but never told how.

  • Ok, so found out that if you have the dives in the Garmin dive app, you can export them as FIT files. Then you just copy the to the activity folder on the watch when connected to a PC… Then they show up in the dive log on the watch.

  • Hi. I've been having the same problem too! Can I ask if your dives are still deleting themselves after you've done the fix with the FIT files?
I tried your method and it does work but within a week the dives vanish again. I've tried going back in and uploading the FIT files again but it just repeats itself after a few days.

I ended up calling Garmin Customer Support this morning and the lovely advisor guided me through a different process:

    1. Connect Mk3i to computer via USB-C cable.

    2. Attach the missing dive FIT files again to the Activity folder.

    3. Locate RemoteSW folder and delete the contents (should be a single file).

    4. Locate "GarminDevice" file (not folder - it sits at the bottom of the list) which is a HTML or XML file and delete it.

    5. Disconnect Mk3i from computer once completed.

    6. Download Garmin Express app onto computer and once completed, plug Mk3i back in.

    7. Run full software update again.

We're unsure if this will fully fix the issue and only time will tell. I can update this post accordingly. However, we believe that similar to your issue it's been caused by a bug on the recent software update.

  • Yes, my dives did disappear again after some days. Transferred them again to the watch…

Thanks for the update. I’ll try ths if they disappear again.

  • Ok, my added dives disappeared again after a week. Didn’t do anything special, just did an activity and saved. I’ll try the proposed solution and see if the dives will stay on watch dive log…

  • Unfortunately after 8 days of trying Garmin’s fix the problem happened again whereby half of my logged dives vanish from the Mk3i. To remove any concern if the touch screen is responsible for deleting the dives, I disabled the touch screen access so that for the last 8 days using the Mk3i meant pressing the buttons to move through it.
I’ve emailed Garmin this morning to provide another solution. My Mk3i is still under warranty and they’ll likely have to replace but I really do feel this is caused by the most recent software update.

Have you had any luck with your Mk3i fix?

  • So it’s the same here. After about 8 days the two missing dives, that I did add according to the by Garmin  described process, disappeared again… So there definitely has to be a bug. Hope Garmin can come up with a solution…l?

  • So, has Garmin responded to this issue? Is it going to be fixed in the next update…?

  • No, still not fixed. I’ve been given instructions to send the full diagnostics report to them including the Garmin Folder and logs from the Garmin Dive app. I’ll be doing this tomorrow morning and can update but it seems they are unaware of this issue and need to look further into it.

Out of curiosity, when does your warranty expire?
