Feature Request: Reply to messages with QWERTY keyboard

Hello Garmin, if you are reading,

Could you please look into adding the feature of being able to reply to messages using a QWERTY keyboard.

Not just in Garmin Messenger but for other apps such as standard SMS, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, etc.

This feature is already available on the much cheaper Venu 3 and I believe is being added to the Fenix 8.

This would really make the Mk3i more complete as far as Smart features go.

Thanks.

  • Please make it an option. I want T9, because i don't write novels. No need of a qwerty keyboard for me. On a small screen its quicker and easier (on the english language with support for international characters)

  • T9 is already there, but only for Garmin Messenger.

I'm requesting a QWERTY keyboard option for replying to SMS and other messenger Apps like Facebook and WhatsApp.

This has been available on the Venu 3 for a long time and is being added to Fenix 8.

  • I was hoping the Mk3 would get the QWERTY keyboard for replying to messages in 22.07.
Alas its not there, hopefully on the next update in 6 months Wink

    Possibly ?
    Thanks

  • "QWERTY" keyboard for messages.

Any chance this feature is being considered and in the next firmware update?

    Thanks.

  • Not happening. It looks like this branch of software is neglected and they are just working mostly on Fenix 8 stuff. Even the simplest of things like showing the proper application icons on notifications (instead of the dreaded, generic green bubble icon) are such hard problems they can't even take 5 minutes to fix them, but they work fine on the latest devices. Don't hold your breath.

  • Nooo, thats not what I wanted to hear Confounded

  • Unfortunately it's how it is. It really leaves a sour taste after buying a 1500 dollar watch, our software is already outdated. They don't even add stuff like the strength coach etc. Like, trivial stuff to add, they just won't do it. I guess that's how they sell new models, by crippling the previous line.

  • Your software I up to date, it is just not in line with software for me line up.
Your watch is still fully functional and as good as was good the day you bought it.
BTW, how much it cost have nothing to do with the rest.

  • "still fully functional and as good as was good the day you bought it"

That's borderline coping my friend. When you buy an expensive electronic device you expect to have software updates for a considerable amount of time. From the very first day I bought this watch it felt like it was in maintenance mode. No new features, no nothing. Ancient bugs that never got fixed. All while new features are rolling out with the later models. Why is it so hard to allocate some resources keeping such an expensive watch up to date? And yes, the price has everything to do with it. This isn't a cheap Chinese band. It's an expensive high end device and the buyer has every right to have expectations. And by the way, it is still the latest model of the descent line up. There is no need to defend Garmin on this.

  • That's borderline coping my friend. When you buy an expensive electronic device you expect to have software updates for a considerable amount of time.

And you are receiving software updates and bugs are eliminated.
Nobody promised you thad because it is "expensive electronic device" you will receive any new functions in the future.
You bought it with fixed number of functions and it is what you paid for, if you bought i "wishful thinking" I will get more options in the future, it was your assumption and you should blame yourself because you assume this.

And last, if you continuously arguing that it is expensive device maybe it is not for you, for me it is just device, not cheap but also not expensive, I work and can afford to buy it not sacrificing my life.

It is not Garmin defending it is just rationalizing life.
