Hi,

Have others have gotten incident detected and managed to cancel it?

Today slipped on Trail Run and it was detected. Showing like press down for cancel, usually it has been that you need to press and hold, but like, when pressing or pressing and holding nothing seemed to happen. No counter that press still X seconds to cancel. So I didn't manage to cancel it.

Have others got those and what are your experience? And have you managed to cancel it?

Looked at the manual, if this would be somehow different that I had on Forerunners, but manual just says, you can cancel it:

"When an incident is detected by your Descent watch and your phone is connected, the Garmin Connect app can send an automated text message and email with your name and GPS location (if available) to your emergency contacts. A message appears on your device and paired phone indicating your contacts will be informed after 15 seconds have elapsed. If assistance is not needed, you can cancel the automated emergency message."

Test it. Trigger it manually (hold ~10s the Light button), then try cancelling it by a simple quick press of the bottom left button (not the right one! At least unless it is not different on MK3)

I do not know how it is on MK3, but on all Garmin watches I used, the Incident Detection screen with the countdown clearly shows which button you should press to cancel it. In most cases it is the bottom left button.

Yes, and I pressed the button and nothing happened and also pressed and hold it for a while, still nothing happened and the cancel and countdown just continued.

I remember that on my forerunner it gave some press X seconds to cancel when started to press, but seemed like this Descent didn't react at all to the button press.

I only need to press that button shortly once to cancel the countdown. The long press has a different function.

You need to press the Light button for some 10s to trigger manually the Assistance function with the countdown, but that's not for the cancelling.

Yeah, I thought I did.. like can't say for 100%, might be that I always hold it for a moment and it wouldn't then trigger it as a single press and didn't cancel. So might have been user error also. Reason asking for others experience have they managed to cancel it.

Well, not exactly the same thing as that's the assistance request not incident detected, but at least in that the simple button press works.

In my case it is the same function regardless whether it triggers automatically or I call it manually.

It's similar, but I cannot say how Garmin coders has implemented it, so hard to say does testing it test the exactly same code path.

It is the same. I tested it many times (well, not with MK3, but with several other models). Do a real-life test, and you will see for yourself, that you can discard the alert in the very same way.
